For the record.

The selling funds had about 22 mill shares earlier this year. Noting what looked like Herald action early this month then imo (from research) the selling funds we had have less than 3 mill shares left.

Probably shorts trying to close so have orders in.

I could buy at 133p minutes ago. then it went 134 and anything over a certain size near 135p.


MMs will not be holding big chunks in this market hence shorters can't get them from there.

Typically some some will go up to 100k shares or more for the bigger names but times like this it will be skeleton 'inventories' just reacting to buy/sell action. The smaller MMs haven't been going over about 50k holdings pre this crash.

Let's just work on a hypothetical scenario.

World's largest stock drops 6% overnight. Market maker gets a big buy order for exciting smaller company on his desk at 10% below market price at 8am.

What would he do to try and fill order and make money for himself?

Any broker hitched to an MM can facilitate a full buy or sell.---The butterfly wings here are in Italy I think.MSFT fell in October 87 then did a 256 er - at least.
