27/8/2018 16:47 | thanks everyone but I am still in the dark about where the "1 billion Euros of Graphene grants" relates to the EU. | ![]() pshevlin
27/8/2018 16:46 | It looks like VRS was tipped in 2015. Just hunting around for something and dropped on this. Investors looking to capitalise on the wonder material’s potential have a number of options in the UK-listed space, each offering a different exposure to graphene’s growing list of applications. Through its subsidiary 2-DTech, speciality chemicals group Versarien (VRS:AIM) maintains a presence at the University of Manchester, the birthplace of graphene. Redcar-based Applied Graphene Materials (AGM:AIM) has developed a proprietary ‘bottom up’ process for the production of high specification graphene and sees the material as a disruptive technology which has the potential to replace or enhance the performance of existing materials in a wide range of applications and sectors. Kuala Lumpur-headquartered Graphene Nanochem (GRPH:AIM) has an advanced materials division that focuses on the application of graphene nanomaterials for selected high performance industrial use. Based in South Wales, Haydale Graphene Industries (HAYD:AIM) is engaged in the research and development, manufacturing and sale of surface functionalised graphene products. Out of these four, we favour Versarien for its ability to deliver cash generation through its Total Carbide division and innovations such as its porous copper foam. More to the point, through its association with the National Graphene Institute and the University of Manchester, Versarien’s access to cutting edge research and technology in this field could prove a game changer for the £24.2 million cap. | ![]() superg1
27/8/2018 16:33 | Pshevlin: I wAs a bit confused by that too. The overall Chairman of Graphene Flagship is Jari Kimaret, who as far as I know has no direct link with VRS (but WTFDIK], whereas our good friend and associate Prof Andrea Ferrari is the Science and Technology Officer and (aha!) also chairs the Graphene Flagship Management Committee which is presumably what Neill meant by Chairman. | ![]() shavian
27/8/2018 16:33 | Just a visual reference re VRS and IQE, put them in the ticker box under the UK flag and make your own minds up. Signal 26 days ahead is the one to look at on both. Of course as a stand alone view it's no good at all , but it's a start. | ![]() luckyorange
27/8/2018 16:31 | Chumbo Squiff all really non EU benefit from the graphene flagship and as far as I can make out VRS in terms of cash has had nothing from them. That's not to say some won't come. | ![]() superg1
27/8/2018 16:22 | PSHEVLIN........he might mean email the Chairman...... | ![]() anley
27/8/2018 16:22 | Um. What does Graphene Flagship + Hard Brexit equal? | chumbo1
27/8/2018 16:14 | ps Isn't the Chairman Prof Ferrari who is very close to VRS. Stephen Hodge now VRS was I suspect more or less his right hand man. If you recall the Cordis document from Nov 2017 Ferrari was clearly excited about the prospects of the VRS ink. I did try to point out some time back VRS battery work was in play and as yet unannounced, we have had news about that recently. It was in the below document. ‘We managed to develop a new technique to create large quantities of high-quality ink. This means that there is potential for demanding sectors in applications ranging from batteries to supercapacitors, displays, flexible electronics, optoelectronics, composites, coating or even medical devices. We are not restricted to one particular area,’ says Prof. Ferrari. One of the applications he particularly believes in is the ink’s integration into batteries. Thanks to this, enhanced batteries with higher storage density and recyclability may be produced. This integration process is in fact already on track: Although Prof. Ferrari says it’s too soon to give out more information, he has already obtained further funding to bring HIGRAPHINK’s production technique to batteries. | ![]() superg1
27/8/2018 16:08 | I tweeted Neill yesterday to ask "As a matter of interest what is the 1 billion Euros of Graphene grants attached to and do we get much from that?" He replied "Graphene flagship check the chairman :)" I've checked but can't see the significance. Can you help me here Super? | ![]() pshevlin
27/8/2018 16:02 | That's the guy I was looking at. Chinese references are very tenuous though dabbling on my phone. His specialism (or one of them) is epitaxy which at first glance is exactly the wrong kind of graphene for us. A shot in the dark maybe, apologies if I've misled. Close to home though! | chumbo1
27/8/2018 15:55 | AECOM - to see why they are involved with VRS. Have a look at the new Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Kansas City and you will understand the need & possibilities. hxxps://www.youtube. hxxps://www.youtube. | ![]() bazzerp
27/8/2018 15:52 | BTW guys As noted there has been a step change in the way news is written and that line where Peter Jay arrived. I'll come back to those points in another post. Another point was apparent radio silence building. Normally when the team go somewhere we get the odd tweet and we play guessing games. Now what you guys won't know is that the PI base is well spread and has a number of tentacles in various places. So I with just possibly 1 other are highly curious about the lack of anything public about what went on late last week. So while you guys read about Peter Jay and the other comments today some of us can't help but think it may be fuel to add to the radio silence and known bits and pieces that others are oblivious too. No point going on too much about it as if it's relevant and near term we'll soon hear about it. | ![]() superg1

27/8/2018 15:46 | So diplomat you just showed your colours there, trading and posting for gain. EG very recently before you sold them all. Diplomat65 - 15 Aug 2018 - 07:42:56 - 26217 of 29486 The market hasn't even opened yet but ADVFN showing share price up from last night's close of 116 to 121 + 5p. How does that work? That Peter Jay story has got the engines revving for a fast start this morning. Great day in prospect - GLA A pump on IQE now you have abandoned VRS, but prior to that chucked in some negatives on VRS having exited. Imo BBs should not be used to as pump to sell into and then knock back hope for a drop back and flip. Besides there are laws that are broken when that happens. So on that point can you post the article or item which you 'read somewhere'. | ![]() superg1
27/8/2018 15:44 | chumbo1 - ?? I had a brief look but can't see a connection between that Bruno and China? | ![]() grabster
27/8/2018 15:44 | Funny that , superg makes a post about people selling calling it down and then pumping another share. So what does diplomat do, comes on and proves the point! You couldn't make it up 😒 | ![]() luckyorange
27/8/2018 15:40 | I'm fairly sure he's not the Sacha Baron Cohen character anyway | chumbo1
27/8/2018 15:36 | This is exactly the reason why VRS won't suffer like IQE is - VRS does not have a large II lending out shares to the shorters whilst buying up cheap shares at the same time. In fact we all know what the IIs have been doing in VRS and that is selling down their holdings which appear to be being soaked up by PIs or possibly other IIs who have remained below the reporting level but in any case do not have enough shares to lend out to do any real damage unlike IQE's shareholders. I also hold IQE and am happy that in time the shorters will close and true value return but you can't compare VRS and IQE at this time purely due to the differing types of shareholders. | ![]() cheek212
27/8/2018 15:36 | Is the mystery Bruno one Bruno Dlubak, variously linked to UOC, Thales and Jinan (I think)? A very distinctive name linked to 2D research, especially spintronics | chumbo1
27/8/2018 15:31 | Anley, that type of life cover would be known as Keyman insurance, not death in service which would be personal life cover attached to a pension. One hopes that Chris Leigh has sorted the BOD out with massive amounts of Keyman cover for both death and critical illnesses. Diplomat: I think we have agreed that II holdings have been reduced to a rump of Herald and Miton, neither of which would seem to have the firepower or inclination to play that sort of wrecking game. It would be comforting to know just what percentage of VRS has now slipped into the hands of LTH PIs like us. Higher than in most AIM shares I would think. | ![]() shavian
27/8/2018 15:29 | Yes Impvesta, I have been the singing it all week driving my daughter nuts! At least I have company in the nuthouse :) | ![]() bootie64
27/8/2018 15:28 | Hello all, The talk of 'shorters' and IQE got me thinking about the 'shirt cuff' I lost on IQE and 'black swans' etc on VRS. I am very confident on VRS but keep pinching myself 'what could go wrong' etc. Possibles 1. The people who hold my shares go bust, heaven forbid! I am with: Interactive Investors Limited (GB). Does anybody have any feedback / experience on them? 2. Donald Trump backlash...??? Sorry to talk of such downbeat things so please don't put me on the naughty step! | ![]() laginaneil
27/8/2018 15:22 | Thanks bootie, that would be much appreciated. | foolishben |
