21/8/2018 23:58 | The nearest the Set gets to fine dining is a pickled egg in a packet of walkers crisps - Cheltenham Tapas. Wash it down with a Thatchers Gold or Stowford Press before 6pm or Dunkertons boxed bar top 7 percent proof post 6. It could be the winning prize in the darts comp. East India really good but if you want the best Indian in Cheltenham then it has to be the Kaloshi on the outskirts (5-10 min taxi ride). Nothing is far away in Cheltenham, it has many fab bars and restaurants to suit all pockets. I'm happy to host a convivial night down the Set and also advise on other places should folk need help. Butty Bach going down well at the mo Graham. | skyliteandy
21/8/2018 23:38 | pcjoe - if you're talking about the Somerset Arms - I don't believe they have an entertainment licence ;0( | spike_1

21/8/2018 22:36 | There are no proper restaurants (that I know of) within walking range (10 mins) of the Somerset / Beaumont. The Somerset Arms is closer to the Slaughtered Lamb (American Werewolf) end of the scale than the Queen Vic' end, but if you are lucky enough to have a native on side (Skylite) it is very much more manageable. Having said that you can get grub within walking range that is at the least quite edible. I presume there are very good restaurants In Cheltenham, but the Som' Arms is in a suburb. I can give more detail nearer the time ;0) | spike_1
21/8/2018 22:30 | Sky Looks like the Set is going to need some pickled Ostrich eggs this year and packs and cheese and onion locusts. I'll bring my Lion King DVD, but need to know if the Betamax has been upgraded yet to a DVD player | superg1
21/8/2018 22:28 | Re Belmont B&B: I've stayed there three times, and my critique is on Trip Advisor if you go back far enough. It has two exceptional rooms (otherwise It is good but don't expect sensational). The two rooms are : Out of Africa (apparently taken) and Out of Asia which I have stayed in twice. I would not mention it if I were planning to book and as yet had not. Warning - both these rooms are expensive BUT if you've stayed in lots of hotels (especially in Europe) they are significantly different. p.s. I don't get commission ;0( | spike_1

21/8/2018 22:00 | Andy, love African style rooms, had lots of multicoloured African slate in our houses over the years, just built a barn in our garden which we use for parties and tho not quite African it is certainly rustic and has that same feel. Sorry for doing the w/e supplement a little late guys... Meanwhile, kermokid...who are you kidding? 😇 | woodpeckers

21/8/2018 21:57 | Parking is easy around there Sandbag; ther club car park is pretty big and there's parking on many of the roads around the club. For those getting the train it's about a 10 - 15 min walk from station or a v easy rickshaw ride. | skyliteandy
21/8/2018 21:48 | Superg1 if your at the AGM I would like to be at the front of the queue to buy you a pint. Your advice when i first started investing back in January was greatly apreciated and I have learned allot from you and others on this BB. I'm sure it will be a long queue so I hope your not driving! | chimpandy1
21/8/2018 21:18 | skyliteandy. What's the parking like near the venue? The ground has only a few parking places. haven't yet decided whether I'm coming down. | sandbag |
