12/8/2018 09:32 | Graphene at warp speed; Into the stratosphere ! The spacecraft was launched in the morning of 30 June 2018, over the Mojave Desert in the United States. The Boreal Space launch team was responsible for the payload launch support during take-off, nose cone separation, monitoring during flight, parachuting back to earth, impact and recovery. During the launch, the spacecraft was sent into suborbital environment, and the graphene material was subjected to harsh conditions like rapid acceleration, vibration, acoustic shock, strong pressure and a wide range in temperature fluctuations. The sample re-entered Earth’s atmosphere after a 71-second flight, parachuting to a landing in the Mojave Desert. The graphene sample was retrieved by the team on the same day, and the NUS CA2DM team is carrying out tests to assess if its structural properties and stability were affected during the launch and landing. In particular, the team will utilise Raman spectroscopy techniques to detect the presence of defects in the sample. | ![]() iain dick

12/8/2018 08:32 | The shorts are getting way too much airtime. Shorts add to the liquidity-it is the scare tactics and misinformation that is my main bone of contention. They always turn up with high growth companies. It's a fact of life. The Kempster/Jaknife gang are a bit sore at the moment as their short on BPC(like VRS) has gone more than 100% wrong. Enough from me on the subject! | ![]() chillpill

11/8/2018 23:23 | Rather hold onto the graphene inks going into the largest money-spinning sector (sports) ta. I'm more interested in what the value of the Copper Foam would be if they sold that - presuming that would put any rumours of a fundraise (other than, as you say, any screaming buys) to bed. Though I suspect HMRC might be about to pump some money in. Probably on the proviso VRS set up a Middle East office to advise the Saudis and Israelis on how to use graphene to kill more civilians - although if they transferred Miko to it I think they'd be pretty safe. I'll get me £525 grapheme-infused coat now before I turn into Stigologist. PS If we have Herald or Miton selling only above 120p, and a Deutsche bank buying only below 120p, wtf are Arden doing to earn their pay? Do a deal, guys, so we can go bananas! | ![]() runthejoules
11/8/2018 21:59 | Thanks for acknowledging it guys , I hope that puts the China and IP debate to bed for now. VRS have put everything possible in place with the help of HMG to make sure it happens hopefully to the advantage of all. The ISO will be delayed for as long as possible with all of the 'graphene like' companies trying to get on board one way or another, don't forget it is international so objections will be put in from lifestyle companies to prolong their existence... it is a b/s world. VRS complies with the ISO standard of that there is no doubt and maybe the bar has been set too high for some to get anywhere near, Ray from HAYD said that only about half a dozen companies will meet the standard. Obviously that is not enough for ISO themselves , they will want more for it to be a useable validation process. VRS will have become frustrated by the slowing down of it and been thrown a lifeline from the USA and graphene council with their interest. VRS have friends in very high places it seems and that in itself will attract the right kind of business. Money. Everything paid for including all of the new appointments and they have cash in the bank, NR has said many times no fundraising needed, there is always a caveat there of course , if something comes up as a screaming buy in tech terms then they will make a case for it. Who is buying the shares? Certainly haven't been aggressive but thanks to superg we are aware that there is a German bank involved. What would be the current market value of 2D Tech if it was sold now ? Plenty would like it I would think. | ![]() luckyorange
11/8/2018 17:59 | Thanks, Lucky. Para.7 in your link on British firms doing business in China puts it in a nutshell. We must have seen it before, so apologies for the repeat. Not quite sure how just attending a trade fair exposes your IP to risk, though: 7. Intellectual Property China has increasingly sophisticated IP and legal systems which are used by large numbers of British companies to obtain IP protection and enforcement relief. However, IP problems still cost British business in China hundreds of millions of pounds each year. Damage is not restricted to businesses in the Chinese domestic market - IP infringing Chinese businesses often have global export capacity. One source of risk is that IP rights are territorial, that is they only give protection in the countries in which they have been granted or registered. If you are thinking about trading internationally, then you should consider registering your IP rights in overseas markets. If you are a UK company selling to China, sourcing from China, or even attending the same trade fairs as Chinese companies, your IP is already exposed to risk of infringement. Another source of risk is that the Chinese IP system works differently to in the UK. We provide factsheets on the British Embassy Beijing IP webpage to help British companies navigate the Chinese IP system. We distribute a monthly newsletter informing companies of IP regulatory updates in China. The Embassy and the China Britain Business Council (CBBC) support over 250 IP cases per year. For more information on our IP cooperation with China or to discuss possible Embassy support please contact Tom Duke via email. Legal advice may also be obtained from legal services providers based in both the UK and China. General information on IP is provided on our intellectual property page. More detailed guidance on protecting IP overseas in other territories is available from the UK Intellectual Property Office. | ![]() axotyl
11/8/2018 17:09 | thank you lucky. The government will be keen to announce whatever deals emerge from all this effort. So if one (or more) of them involves Versarien, it wont just be the company issuing the news. A politician or two will want to be photographed with an arm around the shoulder of the boss. ;-) | ![]() grabster
11/8/2018 16:32 | Everyone seems to forget what it was/is all about 🤔 International Trade Secretary appoints new ‘HM Trade Commissioner’ for China Dr Liam Fox announces Richard Burn as the new HM Trade Commissioner for China during a trade visit to the country. Published 2 February 2018 From: Department for International Trade and The Rt Hon Liam Fox MP Richard Burn named as HM Trade Commissioner for China Dr Fox leads delegation of more than 50 British businesses Prime Minister announces £9 billion of new trade Richard Burn is the first of 9 HMTCs to represent and promote the UK in important markets across the world. The announcement comes during a UK trade visit to China led by the Prime Minister in which she announced around £9 billion of new deals for British companies. Trade between the 2 countries is at record levels, worth over £59 billion annually, with British exports to China growing by more than 60% since 2010. The UK is already one of the largest European recipients of Chinese foreign direct investment. Leading a delegation of more than 50 businesses to China, Dr Fox announced the first HMTC to head the global operations of the Department for International Trade (DIT) in China. Each of the HMTCs will lead on export promotion, inward and outward investment, and trade policy overseas on behalf of the UK government. Their work will include developing and delivering a regional trade plan setting out DIT’s priorities in important global markets. International Trade Secretary, Dr Liam Fox, said: DIT was established to deliver a new approach to trade and investment promotion and this requires a new, senior, commercial team to lead our trade work overseas. As an international economic department, we’ve moved quickly to appoint the first of these important roles. With his existing wealth of trade and investment experience, Richard will provide intelligence on the ground, deciding what tailored action is required in China, and playing a vital role in our future global trading relationships. | ![]() luckyorange
11/8/2018 15:44 | Sigh..... What they really need is a man from the DIT in the company, don't know how they will achieve that though. "The team at DIT China and the China Britain Business Council are on hand to support and advise UK businesses who are considering entering the Chinese market." | ![]() luckyorange
11/8/2018 14:14 | superg........well said too. VRS and NR certainly know what they are about and the various Chinese delegations and US industry will certainly recognise that and the VRS product. I'm in long and just waiting for the day! | psxtalks2u |
