21/6/2018 08:00 | RTJ "I bet ten pence we'll be up 1p on the day"Wow, you're really *that* confident? ;-) | club sandwich
21/6/2018 07:57 | Perhaps a buying opportunity first thing but I bet ten pence we'll be up 1p on the day. The news the market thought Neill was selling in advance of (headphones deal) was not the news he was actually selling in advance of, I reckon... | runthejoules
21/6/2018 07:54 | Read through todays thread rid, the anawer is there. Then Contact neill and have it confirmed is my advice. Atb ellis | ellissj
21/6/2018 07:48 | Could someone point me to the details stating VRS turned the Inov8 deal down? I have not seen them. I think we are all on the same piece of paper in terms of the VRS market position, we just need to see the manifestation of it in the shape of an order. In terms of Nike one of the trolls posted VRS were having trouble with contract terms. I dismissed this as false news. Has anyone else picked this up? | ridicule
21/6/2018 07:46 | Inov-8 is not among the top 25 names in the sports shoe market in the UK according to this table: At a glance, they are not among the top 25 anywhere worldwide as far as I can see. Maybe someone else would care to look further PS: Nike is way out in front - so if Versarien DOES genuinely have some involvement with one of Nike's asian subcontractors (as previously hinted) that itself might outweigh the Inov8 story. | grabster
21/6/2018 07:40 | Friday RNS it is then ;-) | club sandwich
21/6/2018 07:35 | As some have already posted the sector as a whole benefits from inov-8 publicity and VRS can’t and shouldn’t do every deal put in front of them. I bought into VRS because I think in the long term it can be the Apple rather than the Nokia of the 2D world! | lovat scout
21/6/2018 07:33 | The influx of trolls will be from the UOM then joe lol UOM benefit from VRS sales anyway and suspect that the terms were not acceptable to VRS as supplier as well. As far as 50% goes it is a good no. that everyone understands but does open up the opportunity for others to claim higher. Plenty of deals to come from VRS and quietly excited now the ball is rolling , busy summer and it starts today! | luckyorange
21/6/2018 07:24 | Re the innovate shoes & UOM involvement with other graphene supplier - VRS did have first dibs & turned it down - A lot of pressure on that UNI after all that money spent, to be able too showcase some kind of commercial success & demonstrate positive PR if nothing else - Dont know why VRS turned it down - maybe too small a deal on limited resources or innovate looking for exclusivity for minimum term at least - That would have possibly scuppered vivo deal & others - Must have been a hard call for Neil as potential for some loss of goodwill amongst some UOM individuals, but the UOM effort bigger than any one CO.& unlikely to be serious issue going forward - VRS must be one of their best commercialisation chances going forward & GoVT backing both entities hugely - Heads would be knocked together if required by the paymaster... | pcjoe
21/6/2018 07:17 | I'm pleased to see the inov-8 trainer get such publicity, it's good overall for the graphene story. And if the backers of geic wish to scale up via 'graphene city' then good luck to them. Looks to me like they are producing graphene oxide in this regard, but at what grade. Didn't vrs win GO cpi tender too ? Therefore not always a rival to us in many applications. Aimo. Best ellis | ellissj
21/6/2018 07:14 | Lunched privately yesterday with the Asian Spec Sits team of a major fund institution. The name doesn’t matter as none of their managers are allowed anywhere near AIM. The specialist was a very sharp young woman from HK with extensive knowledge of trends in mainland China. She reported huge developments in technology associated with data in particular the emergence of 5G in support of the ‘One Belt One Road’ national strategy. President Xi’s secure position and emphasis on hi tech is very positive for long term strategic planning on all fronts, she told us. But guess what? She had never heard of graphene! I found this absolutely amazing. My host, the business development manager for the institution, is an old friend. He knew a bit about graphene, UOM etc, but had never heard about VRS. It just goes to show that we are only in the smallest foothills of the graphene era. What a privilege it is to be in this position. Almost makes me feel sorry for the likes of Dim Tim and Rainbow, but maybe not. | shavian
21/6/2018 07:08 | 50% stronger, 50% harder wearing "This is a four-year innovation project which will see us incorporate graphene into 50% of our range" Does nobody regard their obsession with that "50%" as rather suspect? If claiming "scientifically proven to be xx% stronger/harder wearing, might one not have expected something other than everything being 50? (like 55, 48, 63 or whatever). That said, my quick scan of global reviews shows the brand to be quite widely known (though outside the top 20 brands) and liked, with good user reviews from professional runners. | grabster
21/6/2018 06:56 | It will kick the other interested producers into gear that VRS are working with, looks positive to me, only 50% ! | luckyorange
21/6/2018 06:36 | As A said Rid, only 50%. :-) And it's great to see such products out there as it alerts people to graphene most of which have never heard about it. Then they know it enhances things so it will catch their attention in the future in other products. As product launch through a range of sectors it will also put to bed the belief that it is hype that will not go anywhere. The majority of those that may have heard of graphene and are investors will have dismissed it as hype. We know that due to the major lack of interest in graphene related shares. Who would have thought will enhance the sound quality of speakers. Well virtually no one, but shortly a hell of a lot more are going to know that. Then find it in their tablet cases, phone cases and so on. It's amazing how quickly things can move on a new very exciting topic. | superg1
21/6/2018 06:05 | Saw the graphene foam 3D sculpted shapes several days ago - so not latest news, except that Versarien have posted a link to it on their own twitter page. EDIT: The 3D-printed smart gel creatures in one of the 'related stories' in that link might mean our next Versarien robots will walk around under water? The materials revolution just gets weirder and weirder. The BBC should bring back Tomorrow's World - there's plenty of stuff to show. | grabster
21/6/2018 05:44 | VRS they will rule the world that's my ramp for the year !!!!! | dickiebird2
21/6/2018 05:04 | The reason James Baker doesn’t mention Versarien is because we are a rival company now! It all makes sense now we can see UOM are providing material. I’m not actually worried at all because I know Universities and academics in general are terrible entrepreneurs and businessmen. We’ve got the tech, we’ve got the contacts, we’ve got the people, we’ve got the collaborations and we’ve got the government on our side. Now we just need a big deal to wrap everything up and vapourise the shorters. The first lot of shorters have been annihilated now it’s turn for the new lot!! | cdub1
21/6/2018 03:34 | The worst aspect of The Inov8 announcement is that they have beaton VRS to market with a big order. 250 stores worldwide selling the £100 plus shoes in two weeks time! They also have the backing of the national Graphene Institute and I remain concerned at the luke warm treatment of VRS by James Baker. That said the myriad of opportunities VRS have already announced, dwarf’s Inov8 depth of market penetration. They just need a big order to underpin this fact! | ridicule
21/6/2018 00:29 | article on BBC news tonight about new training shoes using graphene in soles. Go on sale in two weeks. | cccsecretary
20/6/2018 23:01 | Take your pick on most of those , with the move to electric vehicles tyre wear is greater and as we know that can be improved substantially with Nanene. High speed railway, lots of opportunities for graphene there and so on. Probably a lot that we haven't thought about but VRS good to go! | luckyorange
20/6/2018 23:01 | I bet the US longs for the post Trump era. | superg1
20/6/2018 22:53 | Just a reminder of the "Made in China 2025 plan" Trump turning the screw on the trade wars and tariffs is definitely working in VRS favour hence the influx of provinces wanting to do a deal. What are the 10 sectors covered by the strategy? 1) Next-generation information technology, including cybersecurity. 2) High-end numerical control tools and robotics, which provide China with greater manufacturing efficiency as labour costs rise. 3) Aerospace equipment, which shows China’s determination to be a world leader in outer space exploration. 4) Ocean engineering equipment and hi-tech ships, signifying maritime security implications of China’s territorial claims in the South China Sea and the East China Sea. 5) Advanced railway equipment, which shows how advanced China’s high-speed railway systems have become. 6) Energy-saving and new energy vehicles, which highlights China’s goal to replace traditional petrol vehicles with those that use alternative fuel. 7) Power equipment, which are part of China’s implementation of clean power. 8) Agricultural machinery, which represents China’s advances in producing large tractors and high-performance combines. 9) New materials, which include materials like graphene and nano materials. 10) Biomedicine and high-performance medical devices, which includes China’s development of advanced chemicals and medical equipment. Wouldn't be surprised to hear something in the very near term , it is fundamental to their plan/strategy. The clock is ticking. | luckyorange
20/6/2018 22:52 | I am sure there will at least more than a couple more RNS's during the next 3 weeks. A closed period only restricts those on the inside, owners, board members etc .. Us plebs should take advantage ...........;-) BUY | squire007 |
