Thanks, hazl.
I like dotd's management and it grew steadily and organically so wasn't high profile.
There is always a niggle that the yoodles could change the rules and wreck its business like they did before.

Finished Flash Boys on the boat to Poole, red.

Next recommendation please.

Yes Jane I looked back and TECH was good for me before but I didn't have many at the time.
This time it has changed totally it's stance.

Hydrus who said everybody should jump onto anything blockchain?
I certainly wouldn't!
Agree though that it is some traders way.
But isn't that true with any stocks?
The internet boom and crash showed that.
It emerged finally with some great firms too.
Perhaps we both misunderstand each others 'posts?
Success in a firm can often only be seen in time.
You mention DOTD APAD I held it for about 6 months and could get no investor interest
I sold out as I got disillusioned.
Pleased for you though!

Jane well done if you've found a successful individual company early. That's the way to do it in my view rather than just chucking money at things with the name 'blockchain' associated with them.

Bitcoin has no fundamental value and is likely to end in tears once speculators discover how hard it can be to extricate their cash, Singapore’s financial watchdog has warned.

Article in the Daily Telegraph.

Gdwn - O&G flat. Looking out to 2020 before there is improvement in the sector. It is the other areas of the business that are delivering improvement now.

Rsw - soft share price in last few days but overall good rise for the year. Rebound upwards 3% yesterday. I expect good results. Momentum in their markets.

Numis has downgraded spread betting firm IG Group (IGG) on a European Union clampdown on the sale of contracts for differences (CFDs).

Analyst James Hamilton downgraded his recommendation from ‘add’ to ‘hold’ with a target price of 697p after the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA) announced plans for restrictions on the sale of CFDs to retail clients.

The shares fell 9.5% to 663.4p yesterday.

‘Being the closes to compliant, having the most potential professional customers and having the highest operating margin means that we believe IG is best placed,’ said Hamilton.

He said revenue was likely to shrink but expected IG to ‘flex its marketing spend to reflect the new environment’.

‘We currently forecast an 11% decline in profit next year, in anticipation of regulatory change, but given the more aggressive proposals by ESMA, we expect this could increase to high teens when the full details are known.’

understand hydrus - although identifying new technologies before they become mainstream is something I try and consider especially smaller companies etc. LOQ fell in that category years ago and perhaps prsm more recently. I suspect zoo fits that also.

ps it doesn't always work - lost a lot in TRT which I was convinced was at the right place at the right time back then

Jane I don't know anything about that company - my comment was more related to the idea that one should invest in 'blockchain' simply because it's the next big thing.

well hydrus one could say there appeared to be real potential in tech a couple of years back. almost forgotten now my reasons for getting in. Just taken too long to get here and almost given up following it. so I wouldn't call it gambling - its just a matter of timing? 2 years too early!!

Where's the fat guy with the reindeers?

9.26% off all-time high.

RSW interims 25 Jan - better be good to justify the FYTD rise.

Steady progress from FARN trial.

"The Group has seen the positive trading momentum highlighted in the 2017 preliminary results continue into the first half of the new financial year. This progress is in line with management expectations and is driven by strong international sales and growing demand for dotmailer in the ecommerce market."

KOOV confirms its basket case status.

Hazl I have read up on it - you seem to have misunderstood my post, seems to be a pattern with you (no offence). The technology behind it is one thing. Being able to identify companies that will successfully exploit it to make cash profits is another. Currently there is clearly a large amount of gambling and speculation which is creating bubbles. Just investing in companies or tech related to the 'blockchain' Just because they say they are involved in 'blockchain' is not really investing. Doesn't mean people can't and won't make money of course. Good luck to those who decide to try ride on the wave of speculation.

It's a completely disruptive way of doing things.
A kind of revolution in a way.
If you don't read up about it you won't know.
Sure there will be some firms pushing the boundaries a bit in their descriptions of that but it will change dramatically the way things are done in many industries,I feel.

It's just gambling - some will get lucky, some will lose a lot of money. Nothing to do with investing. That's not to say there isn't good tech which will be disruptive longer term behind some of it but the massive price rises are just a bubble currently.

UBIA, from $6 to $87 in a few weeks, it's now worth almost 8 billion dollar, all courtesy of blockchain. Just make sure you bank some profit along the way.

Published: 12:34 Friday 08 December 2017 Share this article Vibe Tickets officially opened its new HQ and celebrated the firm’s continued growth by entertaining investors, friends and users with talent from across the region at the #BringTheVibe party. The fast-growing business, which began by bringing fans together to buy and sell tickets at negotiated prices, disrupted the secondary ticketing market. It has now evolved into the first entirely transparent international social marketplace for live events. As well as celebrating the recent move into a larger head office in Lancaster, the #BringTheVibe party also marked a momentous six months for Vibe, during which it opened a second office in central London, and expanded its team with the addition of senior staff from industry giants Ticketmaster and MTV. On the evening, guests were treated to a performance from The Voice UK’s Hayley Eccles, followed by a DJ set by KISS FM’s Tom Green, which went into the early hours of the morning.Vibe’s founder and CEO, Luke Massie, has built up a user-base of 75,000 followers since 2013. After raising £600,000 via crowdfunding within four weeks, Vibe now has funding amounting to £1.7 million from a number of investors, including Virgin chief Richard Branson. In a speech made at the #BringTheVibe party, Massie said: “I’ve been told time and time again that I should abandon my roots and migrate Vibe’s head office to London. “I have always profusely disagreed as I’m a firm believer in Lancashire’s abundance of talent. The overwhelming growth we’ve achieved from our Lancaster base proves that point. “Vibe is all about connecting people, so having set the business up just four years ago on Twitter, it’s a special moment to have all the people who have made a difference to our journey so far gathered in our new office.”

$RIOT causing anarchy again today. I'm now risk free in the trade. Up 50% today, I've not seen or experienced anything quite like it before. Seems like just the word "blockchain" is enough to launch a share price to the moon.

Cheers Melton J, and Nadolig LLawen from SW Wales - Mrs P still pondering her next buy - thinking of ITV - low share price atm - throwing off cash - decent basic divi plus occasional special divi's plus takeover prospects (talked up for years now) - besides which, she watches it all the time, she might as well make something out of the adverts rev instead of just complaining about them. pete

Christmas greetings all, glad Mrs P is happy with her purchase Pete. It's served me well since its days on OFEX about 15 years ago, 243 new shares with the scrip dividend in 2016. I wish I were able to trade in and out but the last time I sold at £2 it was tipped somewhere and went to £5 and took a long time to fall back. It is a volatile share with a limited free float but gives buy in opportunities to buy and forget as I've done or take a cash divi and buy on the lows. Hoping with help from Barclays drivng away clients to still have plenty of growth left.
