Attrader

Sorry no books on efficiency to recommend. As in my post i didnt even realise that lean management or the theories existed until i met this couple the other day.

I personally just got fed up with wasted efforts, materials and labour requirements.

I worked out ways to be able to save 1% of my yearly income. Each time i did it really started to add up.

The most important strategy is charging say 10% more. You dont get every job but when you do that 10% falls straight to the bottom line and can improve profit by 30%.

For some reason I am pretty much obsessed with efficiency and minimising waste which I think helps.

Hydrus, i know a fair bit about First Derivative not FDEV (Game Development Company?)

Nice little Irish consultancy with sticky critical software used in Big Data applications.

Thanks for flagging Sumo Group.. Will dig this weekend.

Now bashing on screen for competition...

Sumo group (a games developer) listing on 29th December.Attrader seem to recall you had some good insights into FDEV. Do you know anything about Sumo? It's a PE firm backed so that's always a concern for me (there are exceptions eg FEVR)

Software flagging up Best of the Best..

Anyone has a view on durability & scalability of its business model?

It seems similar to other betting operators.. Constant need for marketing spend to get clients in the door..

Hi attrader,
ABC used to publish data on numbers of antibodies sold and one could see that some antibodies were withdrawn. I used to plot the sales :-)
Digging a bit deeper and thinking about their customers....
You are a researcher and buy an antibody.
You do your research and publish the results - it's what you are paid for.
If your results are positive the data gets pinned on the tail of the antibody and other researchers think 'hey that might work in my area'.
The more this goes on the more an antibody is understood and the more valuable/popular it becomes.
It's so long ago that I researched the company that I can't remember the sources. Don't think about the fundamental business much these days, but I am a bit wary of their capital spend - particularly on software (anyone can do distribution centres).

apad
ps
I wouldn't recognise an antibody if it chatted me up in a disco, so take my viewpoint as naive.

Thanks APAD, I'll add your entries in. Why do ABC antibodies become more valuable with growth? Any investor presentation I can watch get understanding of the business ? Thx

If its 5 shares in the next 'comparison' I am going for my top 5 AIM shares. A significant measure of commitment, plus a view that growth companies will still be where it's at by the end of 2018. They are also shares I expect to hold forever.

FEVR (a new international brand, creative management, minimal costs, pays a divi, needs to succeed in the US)
BOO (stunning CEO combination, huge barriers to entry, disruptive, buy direct from the brand not through an on-line shop, big spend but not difficult, no negatives)
ABC (products gain value the more they are used, becoming the gorilla on the block but high costs developing their systems - need to prove success in developing software and distribution centres)
BVXP (niche technology, hard to compete with, very low costs, losing an income stream, needs to succeed with Siemens collaboration)
TSTL (novel, low cost technology in an important area, international expansion is important, will probably be sold on in a year or two if it continues to be successful)

Remarkable:
After a little research, I see that my purchase of Dlar was the lowest buy price of the day, and my sale was at the highest selling price of the day (by .002p).
What a fluke.

Amazed from Aberdeen.

TLH, well done on minimising effort while retaining profits. Would love to read more on lean management / efficiency stuff . Any good books/material you would recommend ?

That about captures it, homebrewruss.
Given the highly regulated drug business, a Phase III trial in such a specific target is possibly less risky than the drill bit :-)
Anyroadup, I'm only talking peanuts for fun in the absence of a BTFD opportunity.
Another alternative is more FARN, which is currently showing weakness.

S&P 500 up up and away again.

APAD re IMM, hard to know what the price action will be from here but I currently view it a bit like an oiler with a big drill about to commence.
As such I expect (hope for) a further rise until they announce all patients have completed the trial in early to mid Jan (equivalent of spud) and then possibly some derisking into strength on that day.

Blockchain is an existential threat to a lot of back office checking systems. If I was running a bank it would be my major focus.

I've been amused by debates about bitcoin on CNBC. "It's not a currency, it's an asset, like gold." What a bunch of fast-talking pillocks.
On my principle of 'anything other than .gov promissory notes' value is in the eye of the beholder, currency is the easily taxable, easily devaluable bottom of the pile 'asset', so no wonder bitcoin is seen as a possible escape route.
Why do folks think cash in the bank is an asset? It's a target!
Just watch .gov find a way to shut bitcoin down. Maybe they wont be able to - that'll be great spectator sport.

Should have some income on Monday. Might buy some IMM, regardless of timing, as another puppy. Unless there is a BTFD moment.

GAW, looks like the next leg up, 30p dividend to look forward to soon.I think blockchain is a good technology, and it's here to stay. I have Bitcoin and ethereum exposure through the trackers, much easier to buy and sell

bitcoin is remeniscent of the South Sea Bubble, back in 17whenver.
Nobody really understands the fundamentals.
Lucky if you get off before the wheel stops spinning. No means of timing.

Well done, but I don't fancy the risk.

Speaking of Bitcoin, there are a few US proxy stocks which you can have a look at if that's anyone's cup of tea. I recently bought some $RIOT, made 95% in 2 days and took nearly all my original holding out. It's not an investment and RIOT has no earnings or sales, so roulette wheel only but a bit of fun.
