01/8/2017 08:58 | ps Stonegate. "The company was formed in 2010 by private equity firm TDR Capital, after it purchased 333 pubs from Mitchells & Butlers. It then moved its head office to Capability Green in Luton. In June 2011 Stonegate merged with Town & City Pub Company, creating the largest privately held managed pub operator in the UK and acquiring the Yates's and Slug and Lettuce brands in the process.[3][4][5] In April 2013, the company announced a debt issuance via Morgan Stanley, allowing the equity investors to refinance existing debt and release cash from the company for their own purposes. In November 2015, Stonegate acquired 53 pubs from Tattershall Castle Group (TCG) including the Henry's Café Bar and Tattershall Castle brands. In January 2016 the company began a programme to update the former TCG estate pubs and re-brand many of the venues to Slug and Lettuce to further develop the brand." | apad
01/8/2017 08:56 | If SPX drops below £55 I might buy before the interims. FFX is looking a touch frisky. Well done fozzie - that's one hell of roulette wheel. Mine (SOU) is now languishing. Better to travel than arrive. The Stonegate Pub Company is worth looking at in the context of RBG - they look to be a vigorous company. I guess they want RBG's real estate, so unless due diligence turns up a skeleton the deal is likely to go through. apad | apad
01/8/2017 08:30 | Quartix - three directors buying at 360p. Avingtrans buying Hayward Tyler - one to avoid in my opinion. ITRK delivering, especially on the divi. Elementis pretty decent too. Looks like FTC has survived and my well thrive. Dollar weakness makes oil cheaper I guess. Maybe the yoodles are being philanthropic :-) apad | apad
01/8/2017 08:12 | Thanks Dacian, yes UKOG has been stellar for me but I think the others have all been good as well although SPRP down inexplicably on solid results yesterday. UKOG up massively again this morning and quite literally anything is possible with this one. I bought RBG on the advice of my kids who spend fortunes in the place. I bought when the FD left at 175. It recovered nicely and then fell to 120 on a profit warning. I averaged down to about 140 and am very happy with a floor under bidding at 200, hoping for more. It's turning out to be quite a year. Another ath on my porty yesterday. | fozzie

01/8/2017 07:56 | Brexit? Landsec and Deutsche Bank have exchanged a pre-let agreement for the bank's new London headquarters at 21 Moorfields, EC2 on a 25 year lease. The agreement is conditional on planning permission. Somebody tell Deutsche Bank please. red | redartbmud
01/8/2017 07:46 | Bree A small acquisition that looks like a perfect fit for the business: "Breedon, the UK's largest independent construction materials group, announces that it has today completed the acquisition of Humberside Aggregates Limited ("Humberside") for a total consideration of £9.0 million." red | redartbmud
31/7/2017 22:18 | Very interesting developments with RBG as others have noted. £2.00 would be a nice save though a higher bid wouldn't go amiss! It will certainly help me in the standings but in reality I'd sold so no recovery there for me. I can't complain though as it's been a good year for me so far. Thanks to APAD and all those who make this a great thread. Dibbs | dibbs
31/7/2017 21:34 | maynardpaton.com/201 is an excellent report on TSTL open day. Paton is exceptionally thorough. It's a pub group that is interested - they have to do due diligence. The outcome is not a foregone conclusion. apad ps No time travel allowed, Dave :-) | apad
31/7/2017 21:27 | ApadJust seen you're RBG post, would you Adam and Eve it!, I sold up in Feb at 190 (+10%) when the CFO went and also had second thoughts........so well done to those holding after it tanked, they must be thrilled to bits.DDps does this mean I can now pick another share I hold?, BUR please!. | discodave4
31/7/2017 20:46 | An entry has five shares, Pete. I take the view that a positive result in all five is a good measure of judgement. There are only seven entries with all five constituents in positive territory. apad | apad

31/7/2017 20:17 | Don't understand #12786. There are 9 with at least one negative and all the rest are wholly positive. Well done indeed Fozzie - thank goodness for UKOG, eh? Also well done more than half of the competitor list! So called tipsters and investment managers should hang their heads in shame. They are of course much more interested in their own take than the profit of their customers. rgds, pete | petersinthemarket

31/7/2017 18:27 | All of what I hold is about 50% up YTD, Hydrus. The top five are 68% of the portfolio, so they are the main drivers. They are all still held. The holdings are large, so there would be considerable penalties if I was forced to sell due to poor performance. I suppose my major surprise is the strength of Renishaw. I sold IGG in my recent holdings - I now think this was a mistake so will be open to buying if there is any weakness. apad | apad
31/7/2017 17:52 | APAD well done on your top five - assuming your portfolio has benefited similarly you've had a stonking year so far. | hydrus

31/7/2017 16:41 | Hydrus I think that your assessment is closer to the point in the cycle that Bur finds itself in. It is an opportunity lost. maybe I should revisit the story at this point in time. red | redartbmud
31/7/2017 16:36 | Red I think you've outlined the risks well. My take on it is they have a degree of first mover advantage and likely have a very valuable current portfolio of cases which we won't know about until there is progress/news. The capital raised is used to fund new cases.I suspect over time as competition heats up their ability to pick up lots of quality cases will decrease. Think that's some time away yet though. | hydrus |
