03/8/2017 12:06 | The only one to go up in the 1987 crash So yes it's Halma Amazing share | big7ime
03/8/2017 11:54 | Either HLMA or SPX, Big. Not much survived my damascene realisation that companies aren't balance sheets and tintins are, on the whole, useless. I shifted all my holdings into a company in 2012 so I'd have to go back to paper records to find out which. No chance with the state of my study. apad | apad
03/8/2017 11:45 | What's your oldest holding apad Bet I know which Will complete this sentence when you answer The .... ... to go .. in the ....crash | big7ime
03/8/2017 11:39 | BOO on afterburners. Yet again a placing in a growth story places a floor under the share price. apad | apad
03/8/2017 11:38 | BQE up nicely on digestion of those spectacular interims, I am considering adding | big7ime
03/8/2017 11:37 | who... I don't do value sums - The Future is a Foreign Country. I look closely at cash flow and check other figures for change. I look for companies that I believe have a future - but that lies in the nature of their business. My pleasure Hydrus. I greatly value sharing ideas and reasons for decisions. apad ps Better than a day late :-) | apad
03/8/2017 09:19 | Looks like I took profits in WEY a day early. | hydrus
03/8/2017 08:49 | FFX - looking good. Thanks for highlighting it APAD I took a position recently. Portfolio up 46% YTD. Hmm - when is the crash coming? Looking forward to some BVXP news in the next few weeks. | hydrus
03/8/2017 08:38 | APAD, which of those ten do you see as having best value as at today? You certainly seem excited by FEVR | whosaninja
03/8/2017 08:14 | Top ten holdings (87% of Stairway) FEVR BOO ABC RSW BVXP TSTL SPX AMS PRV HLMA apad | apad
03/8/2017 07:43 | APAD Congratulations on the success. You have certainly found the secret of discovering undervalued growth companies, and exploiting them. Off to Fawlty Towers for a rest. The teaboys are running the offices, and I am following the great and the good onto the beach. red | redartbmud
03/8/2017 01:24 | Thank you for the SDX and SOU feedback Apad. The SDX specific BB is not too bad as they go and there is also some interesting feedback at times from people here: Well done on your other holdings! FEVR amazing. Others all ticking along nicely by the looks of things. | lauders
02/8/2017 22:21 | FEVR has taken over my investment world. I am in thrall. apad | apad
02/8/2017 21:28 | PTSG on 47% gain - and all they do is climb bloody ladders! apad | apad
02/8/2017 21:20 | SPX weakening ahead of results. I think you might be right, red, it might be more sensible to wait for the results. A possible 08:03 markdown moment. apad | apad
02/8/2017 21:01 | It's the credit agreement that will buffer PURP as it affects people's credit ratings instantly | panic investor
02/8/2017 20:55 | Rsw Agree with APAD the current valuation must be way over the top. red | redartbmud
02/8/2017 20:51 | I think that's probably right re US. It may be an expensive mistake. However the UK on its own would be huge if they take a good chunk of the market. Anyway I'm spending too much time on PURP it's a small punt. | hydrus
02/8/2017 20:35 | There could also be a range of Amazons, in principle, Hydrus. The supremely clever thing that Amazon did was not to increase prices in order to increase profits. This is what all successful shops did before. If you increase prices you let competitors into the gap. Amazon didn't do this, so they have shut the door to competition. Special case, I believe. CNBC had a piece on a new real estate initiative a few days ago. I remember thinking that PURP investors should all watch it. They just will not crack the states. No chance, nada. It's a polyglot society - two nations divided by a common language. apad | apad
02/8/2017 20:22 | Just watched the watchdog piece on PurpleBricks. If that's all they can find on the company then there is nothing to worry about! Main worry is the US - its s certainly different market so will be tough to crack. | hydrus
02/8/2017 20:20 | Possibly APAD although suspect there may well be a range of online clothes shops in future. I do think BOO has something special though. | hydrus
02/8/2017 20:15 | They were businesses posing an existential threat to the status quo, Hydrus. BOO & ASOS are similar I guess. Maybe it's the idea of a "moat" writ large? apad | apad
02/8/2017 19:59 | Just looking at RIghtmove. What an extraordinary business. The margin, ROE, consistent EPS and dividend growth. When I look back, RMV and AMZN were so obviously phenomenal businesses that I used all the time yet I didn't invest. Got me thinking whether there are equivalents now. Can't think of any immediately. | hydrus |
