Attrader - 'A high return does not necessarily mean it was a great investment. It is just that risks did not materialise. 'Think that's right - easy to pat oneself on the back for making some money but really was it skill/luck/both?Personally I like to track five year plus portfolio returns and compare them to every benchmark going (including fund managers) - gives you a good idea of where your performance is. If it's below these then either give up or accept you're doing it because you enjoy it and not for the returns. I'm also a fan of scrutinising in detail why my investments went wrong and what one could do differently - continuous learning I suppose. No place for Ego.

Highlands Natural Resources (HNR)

Drilling next month at an East Denver location with two dozen other production wells within a five mile radius so high probability of success and are only £10m market capitalisation so could 10 bag.

Bamboo, I hold FDEV too, people reckon it's going to Jurassic Park for the monster RNS next ! We'll see, great news today though with China

bamboo2 - Given the quality of your charting I take that as a positive. It however needs just one black swan event and then what happens to charts?

Well done for holding FDEV. I just liked the company for a while and thought it would do well. Not really into numbers and fundamentals which is why I am so bad at this investing "game". Anyone want a puppy?

Lauders, Indices, I use chart patterns to generate target prices. Indices look set for significant gains until at least Autumn [I have a turn noted for Mid October]

Whoever sold in May is missing the party.

FDEV, A fantastic chart. I hold. Would be interested in fundamental views.

Reading Howard Mark's 'Most Important Thing'. There are always lot more hidden risks than actually materialise. A high return does not necessarily mean it was a great investment. It is just that risks did not materialise. Hydrus, i like your thinking on evaluating potential risks in your investing decisions.

BTFD at G4M? Used to hold but sold too soon. Sure it will recover. Seems a bit OT on the drop but it has gone up a lot on expectations for a more bullish RNS today.

Yes Apad FDEV. Frontier Developments a game development company. Picked them at the start of the year in another 2017 selection competition and so far up 88% (inc today's news). Wish I had bought 88% ago!

Impressive reaction to news from FDEV today. Should do well IMO. If only I had more funds available!

I sold all of ROR, red.

My comparison with SPX showed ROR to be very flawed.

If I BTFD in this sector it would be SPX.

ROR is ~7.5% below my average sale price.

Do not BTFD.
I don't see it as a takeover target and they need some restructuring.
Odgers retirement was a blow to the quality of the board.
Lamb may be tougher than his name, but I didn't see his initial appointment as positive for the company.

O&G strikes again :-)

Further reduced G4M this morning. I very much like the company/CEO but it's rated so highly that slightly slower growth is likely to be punished. Plus if there is an economic downturn then I doubt the first thing that people will rush out to buy is musical instruments. Will keep a holding as I think long term they will do well.150% profit in less than a year not to be sniffed at.

Wow yes.
Just switched on. France was Mr Rotork.
Blimy, what a mess.
I could see that things weren't good at the AGM. I commented on the lacklustre presentation compared to previous years.
Shame, nice guy.
Also commented that they overpaid for last couple of acquisitions, and when they went to borrowing, from cash positive it changed the ball game.
I took 25% of the table and the share price went up 50p over later months.
Coming back now.

Those looking for growth might like to know that prior to today's contract wins the shares are on a forward PE for 2018 of 4.9
