Thanks for the IC comment on RDSB. I hold a few for trading. I am looking for the exit point and a nice turn.

SSE
We are singing from the same hymn sheet.
I hold but will exit the sector at some point. The areas in which I am looking to invest are diminishing by the day.

It looks like I will become a short term stock picker, just looking for a trade.

IC on RDSB:
"We are also less convinced that Shell carries the
definitive hallmarks of a long-term income stock.
This remains the age of fossil fuels, and the forecasts
for global gas demand growth in particular suggest
the acquisition of the natural gas-focused BG was
a canny one. But the long-term future of profitable
oil production, and the way markets value oil producers,
looks less certain now than in any decade
in Shell’s history. Fortunately for investors, Shell’s
integrated business model means it should make
money from downstream refining and marketing
operations come what may. In the short term, the
cash flows should be enough. But Shell has limits
to its growth, which may place a limit on its ability
to substantially grow the dividend over the next
decade. For now, though, still an income buy (Last
IC view: Buy, 2,163p, 9 March 2017)."

It is always difficult to assess the value of a smaller cap growth stock by taking a snapshot in time. What is a value high, or a hope high?
I trust the management in Ltg and Rws to grow the respective businesses by acquisition and organically. (They have a link).
An acquisition can impact significantly by creating a short term spike or dip, and any capital issue to fund such deals is a big factor in that valuation. The tintins scribble their tomes and shares duly react.
I intend to ignore any such noise and hold until the story changes in a direction that I consider inappropriate.

Timing relative to a specific share vs general market sentiment could have a big impact on our choices for the competition.
I selected a defensive portfolio, containing Gnk and Clln. What a biga mistaka ta makea.

I'm surprised you haven't been kicked off the puppy board, L :-) Far too sensible.

I'm considering watching BREE for daughter's ISAs, no rush.
Thanks red/Linhur.

SSE, red.
I don't think that .gov could have designed a more inefficient energy system if it had tried. Energy companies have benefitted hugely from crackpot subsidies. As the prices rise .gov will panic and, using the regulator, will put huge pressure on the supply companies which will reduce their profits, hence divis, and big energy users will put pressure on .gov.

No HLMA rns associated with the agm (there was last year).

I couldn't see what was special about LTG. Well done those who could.

Good TS from Ltg today.

The Board is pleased to report that LTG has made excellent progress over the period delivering on its strategic ambition of building an international business with annualised revenues in excess of £50 million and strong operating margins. The Board expects the Group to achieve record revenues of not less than £20.8 million for the first half compared to £12.8 million in the first half of 2016, an increase of 62.5%.

The strategic progress in the first half of the year has been underpinned by strong organic growth in LTG's other businesses and our period end order book is at record levels, demonstrating excellent momentum as we enter the traditionally stronger second half.

The Civil Service Learning contract, being delivered alongside our strategic partner KPMG UK LLP, is progressing well and in line with expectations.

LTG continues to drive strong operating cash flows. At 30 June 2017 gross cash was £11.5 million (31 December 2016: £5.3 million) and net debt was £6.1 million (31 December 2016: £8.5 million). After adjusting for funds due to remaining NetDimensions' shareholders and net payments due as a result of the exercise of share options just prior to the end of the period, adjusted net debt was £9.8 million at 30 June 2017.

I agree, the oil price is fragile and volatile. If ever it was time to buy the dip sell the rise, it must be now.

Talking about disinfectant - I've just whizzed around FFWD/TRAK/KOOV boards.
I do this occasionally in order to remind myself of how self-delusional one can become.
It's a sort of shriving.

Apad - Please note that I am attempting to talk some sense on the FFWD board and am no "fan". Should be clear but just in case you think I am "self-delusional". I am fully aware what a risk the company is at the moment. Sure I try to convince myself that it will all come good though ;-) Watching for the next spike up in the puppy if there is ever one and then will reassess depending on the reasoning for the spike.

As my "steady" share in a volatile market, I should make some comments on Breedon
interim results.

The acquisition of Hope doubled the comparable revenue and increased profits
by 50% in real terms.

This reporting period has been used as an integration period together with the
overhaul and upgrade of the cement plants whilst off-line.

The debt has started to decline and will be target for a lower year end figure.

Breedon is a large organisation and now a divisional structure to match their markets.

I don't expect the share price to reach 100p until the final figures are available
but expect them to hold their current level even if markets take a dive.

"$50 Brent crude price draws investors back to oil stocks
StockMarketWire.com
A recovery in oil prices back to $50 lifted shares in oil giants Royal Dutch Shell (RDSB) and BP (BP.) which in turn helped to drive up the FTSE 100. The index closed at 7,489, up 58 points on the day.

Royal Dutch Shell rallied by 1.5% to £21.06 and BP moved 1% higher to 450.61p. Both companies are among the biggest in terms of market cap on the London stock market, meaning any share price movements can have a notable impact on the FTSE 100 index.

Among the main commodity prices, Brent Crude oil was up 0.6% at $50 per barrel. Copper was stable at $5,967 per tonne and gold cheapened 0.1% to $1,240 per ounce".

So, oil perking up again.
I just can't keep up with the movements.

SSE
Financial outlook

SSE continues to fulfil its core purpose of providing the energy people need in a reliable and sustainable way. It operates with a clearly-defined and long-term strategic framework built around a continued focus on efficient operations and disciplined investment. The financial objective of SSE's strategy is to give shareholders a return on their investment through the payment of a full-year dividend that increases annually by at least RPI inflation in 2017/18 and beyond. SSE remains on course to deliver this.

As stated in its Preliminary Results, SSE is working to keep dividend cover in 2017/18 within the expected range of around 1.2 to 1.4 times, although it is likely to be towards the bottom of it, which means adjusted earnings per share in 2017/18 is likely to be lower than it was 2016/17; and as also stated in the Preliminary Results, the level of dividend cover remains subject to the ongoing factors that influence earnings in SSE's market-based businesses.

Total energy customer accounts (GB, Ire) - 7.77m June '17 (8.00m March '17).
