24/7/2017 10:06 | Red thanks PURP continues to explode upwards. | hydrus
24/7/2017 10:02 | Apad, think you'll miss out on iqe but good to get your perspective so thanks. Contrary to looking around for something to replace phones They have multiple areas they have been working on for years to compliment the wireless area which is still increasing. Photonics Is likely to be even greater than wireless, doubling current revenues, it is not a replacement. I believe power switching coming next could beat both so a quadrupling of revenues in next three yrs minimum! Add to that increased profitability and you have the recipe for huge growth in the share price as major dilution is unlikely. | big7ime

He was Vice-Chancellor of Cardiff University from 2001 to 2012. Welsh Old Pals Act :-) apad | apad
24/7/2017 07:43 | ps IQE has accessed very large amounts of Welsh government and Higher Education Funding Counsel grants (via Cardiff Uni). e.g. gow.epsrc.ac.uk/NGBO | apad

24/7/2017 07:09 | I see that Captain Mainwaring is now in charge of UK Energy policy. Switch on you solar panel and flood the Grid! You know it makes sense. "They don't like it up 'em Captain". Happy days :-) red | redartbmud
24/7/2017 06:54 | Microgen reminds me of my error in selling it a few years ago - again! I've decided IQE isn't for me. It's an admirable company. Congratulations to those who got on board early. The UK has a great international position in these sorts of chips. So, why? Two reasons. 1. The company is looking for the next growth areas now that phones have levelled off. This could well take a long time. 2. If one of these areas became big enough it might well attract one of the giants. If I owned it I'd sell it now - possibly repeating my MCGN error :-) I shall carry on watching though. The technology is fascinating. apad | apad
24/7/2017 06:32 | Citywire AAA-rated mid-cap veteran Richard Watts has continued to take profit on a position in online estate agent Purplebricks (PURP) as its shares resume an upward climb to hit a fresh record high. Watts cut his holding to 10.8% of the business from just under 12% of shares to 10.8% or 29 million worth £144 million at a share price of 498.5p, up 280% over the last 12 months. The shares are held in his £2.8 billion Old Mutual UK Mid Cap fund, one of the largest holders of the stock, with a further stake held by AAA-rated colleague Luke Kerr’s UK Dynamic Equity fund. Renewed momentum in Purplebricks has rapidly outpaced analysts’ ability to keep up, and left a median price target of 375p trailing far behind. A scramble for growth this week pushed the valuation of the S&P 500 tech sector beyond the high water mark of its dotcom bubble peak more than 17 years ago. For all of you holders. red | redartbmud
24/7/2017 01:04 | ITV on 26th too. Been a good income play so far, but grow it has not. Pretty much flat from where I bought it a few years ago. Hopefully the new CEO will be able to continue the income stream and grow the business. Not a lot else happening that I know of re: my holdings but the puppy jumped up 8% on Friday so I hope it will be a sign of good times there this week. Certainly been volatile (badly behaved!). | lauders

21/7/2017 17:25 | "The classic sign of a con man is that he always responds to information or developments that undermine his previous promises with new!, better! promises. Elon Musk fits this template to a T. Most of the news from Tesla lately has been less than favorable, and all of it contradicts previous pronouncements. Vehicle shipments have failed to make forecast, and it is trying to manage expectations about Model 3 production and sales. It is becoming clear that Tesla will face considerable competition in electric cars, and from companies that have a proven ability to build automobiles in quantity with quality–both of which Tesla has yet to do. As a result, the price has cracked considerably in the past few weeks. So Elon needs a distraction, and another fantastical statement about Tesla would probably be ill-advised. So what to do? Tweet tantalizing trash about Hyperloop, of course! " | apad
21/7/2017 17:04 | I get all that, Big. What I don't get is how they protect their position. The thing nobody understood about ARM was the existence of thousands of ARM skilled programmers. What's the equivalent for IQE? I've asked a few questions of laser mates. apad | apad
21/7/2017 16:22 | That's to be expected after the big rise in the share price Apad Funny I see it more as a small fish getting much fatter, it was madly undervalued when I first bought at 19p, and had been about 7quid yrs ago! The business has come a long way in the last yr and that's just going to accelerate. There are a few v knowledgeable posters, You should get a good response from Sweenoid Read his posts for detail of competitors, products and market size They are not like IMG, IQE supply the specialist manufacturing of wafers for semiconductor suppliers of broader component to Apple for example. They do not have a direct relationship with Apple. Mobile handsets just one area, the IOT is another, Solar, there's infra red tech, new tech for the microwave of the future and power e.g. For automotive, laser for multi functions including defence ind etc etc. Their gizmos will be in everything but at present it's mainly mobiles.the growth is massive hence the huge new premises in wales At this price, Should be like getting in on ARM at an early stage, add to that there's not many decent tech cos on U.K. Mkt to choose from | big7ime
21/7/2017 16:00 | Tried posting on the IQE board - result, usual one-liner rubbish. Little, innovative, good companies can be steamrollered by the big companies. IQE looks great. Doesn't mean it'll survive. Doesn't mean it won't (ARM). How to judge is the question. It's a big fish in a little pond. When the pond grows bigger, hungry fish will become more interested. apad | apad
21/7/2017 15:58 | You need to be a genius to fully understand it I think but you can get a good idea of the story and the potential. Having said that pls do post your findings in layman terms thanks dacian | big7ime |
