red, as mentioned last week on SKG, I would eat my hat if you did
not make money on that holding, add on the dividend and you must be
at about breakeven already, or in profit?.

FFX homebrew:
"Regarding the E-money licence we acquired in early 2017, this enables FairFX to hold electronic balances on behalf of its customers. This opens up a whole range of possibilities for the Group in terms of both the products we can offer and also the payments systems we can directly interface with. We will be selectively using the benefits of the licence in 2017 and beyond with an initial focus on enabling our customers to place and hold funds with us across a range of currencies and thereby create a FairFX eco-system within which we can move funds without incurring banking charges. In addition, the E-money licence allows us to provide digital banking to our customers, with a FairFX sort code and bank account numbers supported by full-service banking facilities with the exception of paying interest or extending credit. We see particular potential for this in the Corporate SME space where customers are poorly served by the incumbent Banks. Finally, the E-money licence allows us to become our own Issuer of our prepaid cards and accordingly we will examine the costs and benefits of this in 2017."

APAD thanks for the FFX reply. I feel like I'm a little late to the game. I still need to do some more research and now digest the results.
As for the banking license I think it could be interesting.
With Monzo it's the youngsters in our office that are using it most and I think they eventually see it as an alternative to bricks and mortar banks which they distrust.

Re BOO and US expansion, I saw this stat related to US retail which I think echoes Paul Scots feelings on the bricks and mortar retail sector:

Doubt it mod. Crowd excitement perhaps, it's very prominent.
Could go up prior to results and then fall back on great numbers. Who knows?
Bought some at 178p ten days ago because I didn't know where to put some RDSB profits. Can't say it was a sensible decision - just somewhere with news coming up.

Just so. The marketing effort eventually builds up its own momentum, if it is successful, and this creates a barrier to competition and enhances current spending.
Looks like FFX is in this space.

The issue with FFX is the marketing spend which needs to be high to increase revenue, but the revenue increase may become recurring by returning customers which should be good for the company.

Talk of European markets rising 10 - 20% from this point based on French elections.
Loony tunes gone mad on CNBC this am.

The surge in my Skg will keep me out of the workhouse, for now at least!
No tempted by Cna below £2. The game has changed. I still don't see how a cap on energy prices to customers can possibly work - on multiple levels.

Pity I didn't buy more FFX by the looks of it. Hope it doesn't become an AIM favourite.

FFX
"The Company had a very successful 2016 beating expectations in terms of all KPI's, with turnover increasing strongly, revenue breaking through the £10 million barrier and improved margins boosting gross profit. FairFX also made big strides towards profitability, with the loss for the year more than halved compared to 2015 and profitable trading achieved in the final quarter of the year. Importantly, the 2016 results were achieved whilst FairFX maintained its marketing spend, capturing a significant number of new customers and further building its brand awareness. Even more pleasing is that this was accomplished despite the challenging trading conditions that resulted from the prolonged Brexit referendum process in the first half.
"The top line growth has continued into 2017 through the first quarter and the Company is significantly better equipped to maintain this growth as it targets a net profit for 2017. With the continuation of the Company's strategy to maintain momentum in the retail product, whilst successfully growing the corporate offering, the board is confident that the outlook for the full year remains in line with market expectations."

I understand, but Ror are using it as a tool to build a long term relationship with customers. Some kit has a long lifespan and it will only be upgraded when the time comes. This gives Ror some leverage. AGM on Friday and I am planning to pop down to ask a few questions.

Have you ever considered therapy or tablets for this urge to cross dress?
Please give me the heads up, if you do, and I will add to my holding of Gsk.

My view is - that is ordinary engineering development, red.
And that it is nothing to do with what Intel and Cisco do.
Remote monitoring and control is routine, not special. Just good practice.

I've abandoned ROR after a lifetime's devotion, so our two positions will be interesting over the current year. I look forward to the developing story. Mantlepieces are not forever.

Le belle France is looking very different. Macron. God's teeth.
I've always viewed France as the status society - Grandes Ecole and all that.
Everything can change! I once gave a lecture at Bordeaux Uni and it took almost the same length of time to get paid, with much formal introductions and shaking of hands. I quite liked it really!

I would class that as an excellent appointment.
Ror has been trying to add value to products by the use of technology. A meter on a submerged pump, in a remote location, that can be monitored at base can be very cost effective. More so if it can act as a regulator. The instruments division grew turnover by 46.5% and operating profit by 26.6% last year. It is now 3rd largest division out of four.
Maybe Weir is looking for similar opportunities.

It will be an AGM statement on 27th, so should be bland. The y'oodles are slowly increasing the number of rigs in production. Fracking appears to be mildly in favour.

Intellectually I am happy with my position on BOO.
Emotionally I am scared of 20% of my portfolio depending on a few lines of text!
It is strange how a US presence has become the key to a leap into hyperspace.
Thanks for the cold compresses, folks.
