08/12/2016 18:02 | redT placing. Another energy wet dream! apad | apad
08/12/2016 16:42 | Currently pondering BBOX and TRI. | petersinthemarket
08/12/2016 16:35 | Yes L, tks, by coincidence just come back in here from looking at ITV again. Suggestions of doom totally misplaced imo. But suggestions of T/O probably also pie in sky (no pun intended). I have traded in and out of itv off and on over many yrs and there has always been speculation ref T/O because of their huge prog bank. Mrs is very cautious indeed but might go for itv as she watches it for hours despite grumbling about high advert content. pete | petersinthemarket
08/12/2016 16:24 | I am with Apad on IGG, a good dividend payer as well. The usual seller in GAW still keeping the lid on the price rise | modform
08/12/2016 16:11 | Considered ITV Peter? Odd special dividend and fairly constant talk of take-overs so perhaps OK from these sort of levels. I have held for a while. | lauders
08/12/2016 16:06 | IGG? - Wow, Either a very brave move indeed or someone hasn't seen the chart this month! Too brave for me. Best of luck. Tks for DIVI comments chaps - We've started the ball rolling in wife's isa with £1k in each of ESP, WJG, JIM. We need a few more yet. I'm still pondering new choices. It's even more nerve wracking than usual when you have to take responsibility for someone elses cash. A. totally agree that divi plus a growing business should be amongst the choice criteria, not just the divi alone. I hope you will agree that both are there in the first three choices. pete | petersinthemarket
08/12/2016 15:10 | That's brave isn't it APAD? Probably come out smelling of roses but seems to go against your more cautious stance unless I am mistaken. Better than BVXP? ;-) | lauders
08/12/2016 14:10 | Bought an initial holding in IGG. apad | apad
08/12/2016 13:24 | SUS Good call. red | redartbmud
08/12/2016 07:00 | Courage of Convictions. Why didn't I dump all of GDWN? It's lack of response to the oil price enthusiasm is striking. apad | apad
08/12/2016 06:37 | P, The danger I found when I invested my Mum's house monies in suchlike stocks was that it was too easy to let the top-level criterion to overide caution about the reliability of a decently increasing income stream. 3/4/5% doesn't matter much three years down the stream. Divi increase and a growing business is the name of the game. Out of favour sine wave companies can be attractive (GSK). apad | apad
08/12/2016 06:31 | GSK - conviction, contrarian choice. Bought in daughter's ISAs. Dollar earnings next year. Fear of politicians overstated. FWIW apad | apad
07/12/2016 22:25 | PCTN c 4% yield + some capital growth. long term buy and forget. My first tranch in 2010 cost 47p. Now c 75. | janeann
07/12/2016 21:56 | Hi Haywards Lets hope its good news. Still the market can do anything cant it. I belive it'll make a slow and steady rise coupled with healthy dividends but patients required with it. Best | thelongandtheshortandthetall
07/12/2016 21:31 | SUS Trading statement should be positive and include further growth if the last few news releases and company interviews are anything to go by. Although the share price has reduced the last few months. Hoping for a nice rise tomorrow :) | haywards26
07/12/2016 21:14 | Hey Red Hmmm i stil snarl at certain bags of compost when i see them haha. DEBT is the big enemy from now on me thinks. Had a good year actually. Thanks asking. Went through numbers and methods with a fine footh comb and made some really good changes. Funny what yiu cant sees sometime even when its right in front of yiur face ay. Hi haywards26 I see you bought some SUS. Really hope it works iut for you and me. At the time i mentioned it didnt realise there was a trading statement due tomorrow.... so we womt have long to find out if my high lightning it was a good idea. Very illiquid stock has to considered. Cheers all | thelongandtheshortandthetall
07/12/2016 21:02 | Peter, Some ideas for you. EPWIN, SUS, REC, CLLN (perhaps), IRV (perhaps), some of the housebuilders. Perhaps = a couple of construction companies under pressure from shorters, management issues. But have a history of high and consistent dividend payouts. | haywards26
07/12/2016 19:46 | H - your ''divi'' comment reminds me, I'm supposed to be sussing out long term, solid, safe, boring, divi payers for my mrs to buy in £1k tranches in her self select isa. To give you some idea of her risk appetite, so far I've suggested, and she has bought, EPS, WJG and JIM. She only really wants to better the current banks' interest rates. If anyone has any comments and suggestions, they would be most welcome. ta, pete | petersinthemarket
07/12/2016 17:03 | Yes sure. Just don't want a nasty material contract nasty turning up..I would have thought there would have been a mention of the Liverpool hospital if any issues were likely to incur financial penalties for the reported project delays and overruns. There are some interesting 7% divi payers on similarly low P/E ratings currently that are also growing their bottom lines and divi payouts in profitability that I would have preferred to move some cash out of CLLN and into. EPWIN, SUS etc | haywards26
07/12/2016 13:41 | Haywards Thanks. Holding on for the dividend now. It has become the equivalent of the old Co-op where you bought your goods and received a dividend at the year end. Regular as clockwork. Better than 0.90% on cash! red | redartbmud
07/12/2016 10:49 | The CLLN finance headlines are negative... | haywards26
07/12/2016 09:06 | I read the CLLN update as being steady as she goes, with the hint of a couple of negative items (debt, Caribbean region reduction etc). I would of much preferred an 11p share price movement the other way, so that I could have reduced my holding. Ah well will continue to sit on my holding, albeit from a slightly more concerned position. | haywards26
07/12/2016 08:18 | Haywards Market doesn't like Clln then. red | redartbmud
07/12/2016 08:05 | Haywards Clln needed a very fast finger at 8.00am. Big sales reversed the spike. Was it planned by our shorting friends? red | redartbmud |
