go on Jubber

tell us another 4 times tomorrow that you won't be buying VANQ shares, je je.

------

dont get too attached to your BAT divi

noting that the UK has introduced a law which g'tees the future extinction of all cigarette sales in the UK.

And other countries are looking at this new UK law & considering whether to also introduce it !

I wouldn't want to be invested in tabacco.

Do you trust the next government not to promote this new 'woke' culture.

I have the feeling that what we are seeing now is only the tip of what might be a mighty big iceberg.
And I include BATS in that scenario.
Regulation regulation and yet more regulation is something I continue to be very wary off.

This and the tobacco stocks are all walking around with big targets on their back so while happy enough to steer clear of this particular share will 'Jub' in and out as and when for 8-10 %.

Have decamped most of my investments into trackers so just out of interest playing about about with high yielding shares.

Am off an age now where growth isnt my watchword return by way off dividend is.

In this market prefer cash balances

Hope that explains my rationale

As I said good luck to those who persevere

You need to think more in the present jubber the government already along with the previous board destroyed the share price here things are different now. The government promoted a compensation culture but as they are now aware going to far has unintended consequences and you actually need banks like Vanquis as a safety net and new blood is now in the game add to that your thinking has cost you a substantial gain already.

As I said it was an article in the This is Money as to how Vanquis handled one of those customers just about making do in the current financial climate that prompted my original missive.
But to counterbalance that there was a fair few comments extolling the virtues of Vanquis but as I said I don t personally agree with how they conduct business or their business model so I will continue to avoid.

I cannot see any future government not taking a closer look at how these high interest companies operate and that needs to be taken into account.

So in short will not be investing now or in the future.

But again good luck to those who choose to do so

btw
between 9am & 10am a few chunky buys are reported. There is still keen interest in these shares imo from people able to make single £10k-£30k buy trades.

XP power reported today that it had received a takeover offer. up a lot. (+40-60% ?)
And another company received a takeover offer yesterday & was up ~60%.

Value & discounts to real value, the share price catches up in the end, & will do at VANQ imo.

good point...

or perhaps interesting for other motor finance companies....
(& then separate the non-motor finance parts)
....& enjoy the difference between 62p & 170p NTAV !

Would a insurance company be interested here...VANQ does motor finance...Insurance company can cross sell...

....& 170p/share of TNAV...which is calculated from mostly/all 'money' not from buildings or land.

for a share price of only
~62p

I'll add that with 30k+ reviews on Trust pilot at 4.3 it is ahead of most of the major banks. If anything it has been too easy, given the large debt write offs.

Smithies

My opinion hasn't altered on Vanquis

It is what it says on the tin

It is a doorstep lender

I have no interest in buying into a company that preys on the vulnerable and desperate

But each to their own

If you can make a turn on it best of luck I prefer to take a more high handed approach

But even I have failings hence my buying into BATS as an ex smoker but dividends call and I come running.

As I said not for this conflicted investor

...a 'punt'

hmmmmm

the NTAV is 170p/share
versus 63p share price.

and £60m of costs taken out, 350 staff gone.

...each to their view but it looks a great investment imo.

it went up 20% last week, so the market can't complain if it goes sideways for 1 day.

Hi Diku, I think the buy side still looks ok and Schroders and Norge would be trimming back, as they have previously done, instead of adding. So I think there is still some headroom for growth, although I agree this is still a punt on the new management team.

And times you keep holding onto it thinking it will keep going up as greed sets in only to see it turn and paper profits start to evaporate...hence punters are not hanging around...too many times stitched up...

..I know the feeling .
...difficult mentally to go back in to a share (such as at ZOO recently for me, took 70% profit in short time at 62p. :-) )...but sometimes I have done it..

.I guess that mentally people are keen to hold on to that profit and think it is safer put in to a different share...but often shares that are rising do that because there are fundamentals creating buyers and the share price keeps going up.....just look at ACSO, RM., ....VANQ ;-)
