Glad I sold my punt here at £1.30 a while back even at this price with that new earnings estimate still a very high p/e for the sector.

The self-destruction of Prov continues, shame to see a well run company decimated by some bad decisions.
Vanquis seems an ironic choice of name . Defeated more like.

Brutal day. Maybe there can't be any director buys if they are now in closed period, so probably best I don't watch!

After the 4th complaint each one costs the company £750, in addition to having to defend against, so costs can accrue quickly when there's concerted effort by third party claim agencies. Effectively a free option for them and the consumer. Disappointing, but in and of itself, doesn't break the business. Term deposit funded, so one would hope they raised aggressively YTD, imagine harder to get deposits in when shares down 40% in one day. Initial read is that this delays, rather than total derails, recovery....but not the first time I've thought that!

Falling rates, increasing NIM, soft landing, lower impairments, cost actions coming through...seems a lot of bad news in the price, with more favourable outlook going forward

Well it may have some impact but it would be even better if institutions would keep buying at this level.

Realising your serious because we are coming up to dividend payment day meaning that over a short period investors will receive cash that they may reinvest back into the stock which “might” increase the share price and with this being hit so hard could be a wise choice.

sorry but what the divi payment has to do with the rising SP? Ex-divi date was in August you could sell your shares now without losing the upcoming payment, right?

It is even more difficult to understand the reason for the continuing fall in share price

According to Market Screener

The forecast PE for 2025 is 2.5

And the forecast yield is 17%

It looks like one of the cheapest shares in the market

A fair price would be about £5

It could well be an extremely good investment buying this now they seem to be pricing it to fail I’m confident that won’t be the case but everything carries risk but I’m comfortable with the numbers here and the potential.

Interesting to compare the forecasts for Vanquis and IPF on Market Screener

They both look very undervalued

hxxps://www.marketscreener.com/quote/stock/INTERNATIONAL-PERSONAL-FI-4007183/finances/

It shows forecast eps for IPF of 18p in 2023, 21p in 2024, 28p in 2025
And forecast dividend of 10p, 11p, and 12p in 2025

The forecast eps for Vanquis is 42p in 2025
And the forecast dividend for Vanquis is 18p in 2025

hxxps://www.marketscreener.com/quote/stock/VANQUIS-BANKING-GROUP-PLC-9590111/finances/

So with the Vanquis share price now lower than IPF, Vanquis seems to offer a far better investment with a forecast PE of 2.5 in 2025, and a forecast dividend of nearly 17% in 2025

The forecast PE for IPF is over 4 in 2025, and a forecast dividend of 10% in 2025

So they both look like that they may be good investments, but Vanquis looks much better value than IPF now
