40p lol
I thought the update was largely positive with what looks like a solid ceo coming with a quality interim old hand in the meantime.
I also liked that they had retained some of the old Carillion contracts.

Yeah looks solid. Glad it's not just an internal promotion it needed some fresh blood after all the infighting. Looks a good bet this company now.

Upcoming CEO appointment looks promising - it's what the company needed IMHO.

Doubt that you want to see 40p if you bought at 130p!!

Good call, buying some more!

Have all the "doom-mongers" left the room yet, having wasted their time trying to drive this down and even predicting 40p!!!!

How much of a profits miss?

Adjusted PBT of £10.5m (Act H1 £5.4m H2 £5.1m) vs £12.9 consensus (H1 £5.4m - Est H2 £7.5m)? Or 20-30% depending whether one compares at FY18 or H2'18?

Any ideas what the new consensus expectations are for FY19 (vs £15.0m before) : £11-£12m?

What a bloody mess we are in, and we don't have a clue what we are doing with a niche business that should be making great profits.

Looks like it's a miss if full year PBT. I think the market was already pricing it in, but will expect to pick these up lower today

I don't know this company well enough to guess what the share price will do this morning, but a couple of others I follow have seen a big opening mark-down followed by slow climb back, at lest some of the way. These were after apparently negative statements which weren't really all that bad.

If it dropped to 40p I'd certainly be keen to get in.

@ Lammylover - I make the prospective PER around 7.8, on a full tax charge. You seem to be assuming zero tax - it will probably be somewhere in between.

For some reason, Van Elle's trading updates always seem to read negative. But when you read it again, there's loads of positives in here. Main one for me is that they expect to make 10.5m pre tax profit in year just ended. This makes the p/e of the company, by my reckoning to be about 6.2. Also finally got around to appointing a new CEO and warmer weather beckons, got to be a bargain at 82p surely? Just my thoughts, DYOR as always, Rich

Having reported a very strong first half performance, revenues and margins in the General Piling Division have been lower in the second half reflecting the slightly slower market.

Get ready were going sub terranian

Maybe they are delaying an update in the hope that they will be able to say something positive about current trading to balance what I fear will be bad news in the first quarter of 2018, supposedly due to the Beast from the East etc.IMHO this may work if the news is really good but if there is no good news, the -ve impact will be exaggerated.
