According to the company website, looks like March 25th (a week today) could be a day for news (Q4 results). Will be interesting to see if we're told anything else.

Ticking north with every buy....starting to mirror the tsx.....which is up again today. Will get a TSX:VLE graph in the header soon.

Looking forward to news and hopefully a bit of boomage in 2021.

80 share purchase and we tick up.

As I said, this is set to move very well.........when the market wakes up.

SP target is well into three figures for me.

Good luck.

Just you and I here shabadi.

Have given this company a mention on the 88E thread, that's all.

It will be 'discovered' at some point.

News will be the driver.

Agreed, completion of sale of conventional assets and we should have around $45M US in the kitty and some M&A activity is on the cards....as well potential partnering news for the retained gas play.

This has the potential to seriously shift on any decent interest in the mkt.

I would be buying on TSX but not allowed in my SIPP. Going to be holding these long term, when the asset sale completes then we have the M&A activity to look forward to. So lots of interest short term.

Nicely out of the traps on the TSX.....and a fraction up in London on a very small buy.

The company is yet to issue an RNS in 2021.

You have to wonder how close they might be to a merger or acquisition.

Thrashing out a deal?

A few suggestions on the 88 Energy thread that the rise there is potentially connected to interest generated by the Reddit crowd, they of Gamestop fame and also increased interest via Stocktwits.

Just checked in to the Stocktwits forum where they are talking about the stock on the US OTC market. There are now over 1700 users watching/talking about this stock, so there is going to be a hell of a lot of shares traded between the three markets on Monday imo. The U.K should be looking to follow the Australian market and the US looking to follow U.K., but the OTC market only has a fraction of the stock that is available in the U.K, so it could go ballistic in the USA imo if Australia and U.K. respond well to the increased level of interest...and then that has follow on implications for the other markets.

It will be interesting to see if 88 Energy sees fit to issue an RNS regarding the share price movement.

Perhaps junior and smaller O&G firms will be the next sector to generate such mass backing / interest.

Interestingly, user stats show that Canada has a particularly strong Reddit investment / trading community. Very high number of contributors.

So.....who is going to sign up and give a nod to the cashed-up, zero debt, blue sky prospect that is Valeura Energy (LSE:VLU // TSX:VLE) ???

If the management do pull off a decent merger or acquisition, as they've been threatening, it might very well be 'our turn' at some point soon.

In the meantime, good luck to all enjoying the ride at 88 Energy. No position held, but the price action has been good to watch for sure.

NAI. ADYOR.

Spread tightening now shabadi and up we go.
Quoting well under a 3% spread now.

I think you're right. When this moved last time, I found that the spread closed somewhat and despite the advertised prices it was very possible to deal fairly competitively, within the spread. But as you say, as news begins to flow, which it will I'm sure, we should see an improvement in trading.

I think we'll see an RNS next week.

I like the low number of shares in issue and the apparent strength of the management. There are some decent names in there. The fact that they originally got Equinor as a partner to invest $100M in the first round of drilling in their retained gas play says a lot.

The proof is in the pudding however, and we await to see what kind of a deal they're capable of. They are taking their time, for sure and I would hope this is a good thing in that they're thrashing out a decent deal.

With the strength of the balance sheet, VLU should have the whip hand in any negotiations.

Looks promising. Difficult to attract buyers on the London listing with such a wide spread (currently 7%). Could do with a few more active MMs on this, hopefully any M&A down the line will address this also.

Up another 7% on the TSX, strong into the close on slightly better volume. Given that we're HQ'd in Canada it will be worth keeping half an eye on that mkt.

Seems to be a bit of support arriving on the TSX....another blue day there.

As I said volume can be tricky to get here. You will find that buy limits open slightly just after a positive move, before being quickly closed again on any further support.

A fairly small free float, VLU should rocket if the management can pull off a compelling deal.

Could come at any time. Due Diligence "well progressed" back in December.

Good luck & ADYOR.

They are taking their time, let's hope they are cutting a decent deal.

A quick reminder who is on the board here:

MM's are keeping very tight online buy limits.

Volume currently only possible via the phone...or fill or kill.

Company should update in a weeks time.

MM's need to pull their finger out, create a market and finally open the buy limits here.

Several people trying to buy in volume. Fact.

Thanks Waldron. Analyst coverage at this stage is meaningless in my view. Auctus, who are closest to the company state fair cash value at around 38p and have stated that they will hold back on any further projections until the company has secured a partner for it's retained asset and/or made an acquisition / merger, after which it will update. At that stage I would think all analysts will update their notes on VLU.

I think the company will talk to the market within the next few weeks. Watch this space imo.

Thanks also for your thoughts Grupo. Indeed, if you're more comfortable with larger, producing O&G companies, which pay a divi, this may not tick your boxes.

Personally I am more familiar with smaller capped companies, but I agree, the next update should shed more light.

Key Points

International benchmark Brent crude futures popped on Monday in Asia, moving above $70 for the first time in more than a year.

The surge in oil prices came after Saudi Arabia said its oil facilities were targeted by missiles and drones on Sunday. A Houthi military spokesman claimed responsibility for the attacks.

Brent jumped 2.16% to trade at $70.86, while U.S. crude futures rose 2.09% to $67.47.
