k8 rhm: After some Xmas research I have taken a position too. Not on their website but envisage a trading update later in Jan as per last year. Researched fundamentals but also asked my two teenage sons and their friends to discuss a list of games from frontier, TM17 and Sumo and pick which games company they thought was best. They picked Sumo. Overall, the company looks to have an ambitious appetite.
boozey: As Christmas approaches I expect Games Developers to make good progress on their share prices. Why Sumo over others - well for me my initial investment was after Tencent took a stake in 2019, one of the biggest investors in Games Developers globally and they own a fair few of them outright too. To me this investment - around 10% - has operated under the radar but the recent growth in share price has the Tencent factor as a contributory reason I feel. hxxps://
feyon47: Although the vaccine is going to be available to most in the new year, I feel that the general population of countries will continue to experience COVIDS effects, such as lockdowns, restrictions etc... in Q1 21. For that reason I think the price should remain stable at where we are now. I do also think that SUMO is a great company with a good vision and therefore will be buying dips when this occurs. Any news/updates we should be looking forward to.
boozey: Podgyted - I would agree with that given the share price performance YTD. But gaming stocks typically perform well over the Christmas period so mid January is probably a good time to decide what action if any to take.
boozey: Sumo presenting on Mello Monday tonight, a well-respected forum for PIs. So after this evening we may finally get some company here to make valuable contributions to this thread. So the boost to the Sumo share price today may have been a double whammy of EA bidding for CDM and Sumo having top billing on tonight's investor event. hxxps://
davidosh: There will be a presentation by Sumo at the Mello Christmas show on Monday 14th December. There are a number of quality presentations and this will be the first time Sumo have presented at Mello. boozey: Thanks Tole, good to see some publicity for SUMO, it has operated with a lower profile than CDM, FDEV and TM17, but has been just as successful during the pandemic. With lockdown, and Christmas around the corner, video gaming is booming. With consolidation as Saucepan says taking place in the sector, I would suggest SUMO, or at least once of its peers, is a ''must have'' for the portfolio over the next three months at least.
saucepan: Thanks, Tole. With a bid announced for CDM late Friday, sector interest and speculation about further consolidation is likely to hot up. It will be good for the share price here, I think.
tole: Daily Mail (Punt of the Week): Sheffield-based video game developer Sumo Group shares are up 50% so far this year.
boozey: Isn't anyone else invested here? Don't need to wear a face mask on this board as no one else is around seemingly! lol Still reckon we could be £3 after Christmas. Turnover here is around £50M. £390M market cap and a PE of 40, Contrast that with TM17 which passed a billion pound market cap today, 60 million revenue. More profitable than Sumo (but not materially), and a PE around 53. I hold both, both have more upside than downside given their defensive qualities during the pandemic. But for more upside potential given the data I would plump for Sumo.
