"As a doctor, I'm telling Boris Johnson – a Little Britain response to coronavirus will be deadlyWe have long known that pandemics do not respect borders. If Johnson removes us from the EU's disease response network, the consequences could be disastrous?John Puntis@jpuntis 7 hours ago57 commentsIn 1831, the first "Asiatic cholera" pandemic reached the UK via the port of Sunderland. Although the terrible nature of the disease was evident to local doctors, vested interests delayed the notification of authorities in London because of concern about negative effects on business. Of course, more people died, and the port was quarantined. This cholera pandemic was probably the first time the international dimensions of managing a public health emergency became clear. With 90,000 coronavirus infections and 3,000 deaths worldwide, there is now a new spectre haunting the globe. The Organisation for Economic Cooperation and Development warns that coronavirus could slash global economic growth rates in half, as factories shut down and supply chains are broken apart. Meanwhile, the European Union has raised the risk of infection from moderate to high. The UK appears woefully unprepared for coronavirus. The NHS is already in bad shape, with the worst ever A&E waiting times, over 95% bed occupancy, 100,000 staff vacancies and the prospect that a no-deal Brexit will majorly disrupt the supply of medicines. With the worst-case scenario suggesting up to 50 million infections and up to 250,000 deaths in the UK alone, there can be little doubt that both health and social care services will be severely challenged by even a modest intensification of the outbreak.More worryingly still, it appears the UK government is allowing petty infighting to hamper its preparations for a pandemic. It is staggering to hear that, as the virus continues its rapid spread, Downing Street and the Department of Health and Social Care (DHSC) are locked in a row about Brexit – specifically, the UK's continued access to the EU Early Warning and Response System (EWRS) for communicable diseases. The DHSC, it is reported, wish to remain in the EWRS, the prime minister decidedly does not"

Thailand has far better control over the virus, than the UK.

Yes bringing in retired doctors and nurses does sound a bit crazy lol

But they are foreign. That wont pass for most Brexiters. And Asia has an infectious diseases epidemic. So who will step in during an epidemic? Retired nurses and doctors says Boris and the cabinet. The age group most at risk. The people voting for these simpletons ought to hang their heads in shame.

10000 nurses could be brought in from Thailand alone tomorrow. And the standards are high

Major health epidemic in the UK. Short 41,000 nurses and doctors. Guess which major source of recruitment has been stopped by Brexit? Nurses from the EU. Who would want to come over and look after the likes of our elderly Brexitears on this BB? Just a thought.

Oil last at this price a week ago. Feb 26th
TLW at that time was 38p and falling with oil.

Markets update soon.
New CEO?

Media have a lot to answer for for the scaremongering they have created.

There will only be one way when normality resumes and that is upwards.
I like it because suddenly lots of people will have opportunity to clear mortgages, buy new cars, enjoy life with reduced money stress.

Unless of course you really do believe that the likes of TLW / PMO are junk status and worth nothing... :-) :-)

Proven assets??

Chris LSEIf we take the previous Uganda deal as illustrative of the value in only one of TLW's assets, TLW is seriously undervalued....The deal assumed a 900M USD consideration (mixture of cash and deferred payment) for a c. 21.5 per cent interest in Uganda; TLW's 33 percent stake is worth 1.4bn USD (as confirmed by CNOOC / Total etc). And then there are the others!!!

Think one of them got a total kicking on the Dow Jones and lost some here at Tullow. What you might not know is the Dow rose 1000 in the last 15 minutes last Friday night then opened up down 800 points in Asia a few hours later then rallied 800 points in Asia to Fridays close and then up again 1200 points today. Someone (who was up all night and didn't appear here until 11 am is going back to the fish factory!

All spreadbetters will have been kicked out by stop losses both long and short leaving the hedgefunds happy. Markets have a way of dealing with smug gits and hope the lesson was learnt.

All still wibbly wobbly.
