I don't think shorting was part of 'the method'

We're now not talking about 'lightly shat slacks'. He knows what he's doing, has nothing to learn and has doubled down so he's ok. I think at 58p he was maybe 95,000 down, having doubled down on the 'bargain', he's a lot further down but I assume he's still right. Same way it goes on all bb's. Go and look at the death throws of XEL, Flossofa who I believe is as confident as ever in his abilties, lost millions. He'll be right until someone convinces him he has no idea what he's doing.

Its a strategy that pays sometimes ie enter at 144p because you think its value that day, and still believe it at 58p and 33p

He did short right?

It's all that interests me, end of year. Good periods, bad periods, but year end and tax bill is the thing that counts. If you think about it, if Whites had sold at 58 (tough decision, to be fair), he could havve bought back almost double the amount of stock now. So assuming recovery which he does, he'd be in a better position, but using 'the method', there really isn't a plan. No exits, no management, no buy backs, no swing highs, no swing lows.

Still each to his own. He knows what he's doing and managed his trade size so it's not like he has anything to explain to his family. Also, from memory it was all profit from previous ENQ/PMO trades so it doesn't matter.

That same guy sacked people with better P/L than me - because control wasnt there at all times - it could have been a mess - so in his mind, profit was accidental

A smart man once said to me Stumpy

"I will not judge you on you're winners. I will not judge you on you're losers
I will judge you on P&L at year end - and if any position loss was running out of control"

All about the aggregate. Doesnt matter if you are whites or Buffet

He was emotionally sucked in by 58p

cut n run and come back another day - skill is making sure a loss is a level thats easy to regain and then some, next time around

What whites should do is always assume the next trade/investment, could be the bad one - and manage that way

I'll never bow SR, I'll never relent, but to be honest (and with hindsight) whites would have done well to listen at 58p, but when you buy at 144 and the stock is 58, it can't get any lower for sure. He was trapped right there. Not sure why he chose to attack all and sundry around him. But interestingly, if he'd dropped the lot at 58 (for a 40-50% loss on what I believe was a 100 average). He'd be quids in to buy a bounce if it were to come. But he's using the method, not my favourite method, but the method all the same, if it works over time for him, you can't critisise it I guess.

I wouldn't recommend it. Only pleased that he took the sensible option and went for a small punt.

Whites is allll outta luck

When you start to emotionally break down on a stock - its time to relent to the SR - and just yield to me now..

It is easier that way Whites - a merciful stock death. Fast and decisive

Messing with SR only brings prolonged despair

There is no sense in that

Whites, you're allowing your dislike of SR to interfere with the fact you're supposedly here to make money! If that's not a classic feature of human nature, I'm not sure what is, but hey ho, keep using 'the method'. I'm pleased for you that 85,000 shares at 144 was a small trade and that you don't have to explain to your wife where the money has gone. There are others here who are suffering from their losses (even me, but in a very small way). Suck it up and find another method.
