Like I said, each to their own. Shorting it here is too risky in my opinion. For one thing, I think you will be stopped out today. But if you are caught when the new CEO is announced, you will be skinned alive.

This will have days of blue in my opinion and as soon as New CEO is announced later should jump pretty quick if it’s the guy who I’ve heard they want 👍

I doubt it. More like 47.3 if you were quick. But that will burn today too. You are too early.

Re "Tullow" has plenty of assets to sell...

They might not be worth as much as they're currently valued at! Or what some think they'll fetch in a sale!

Food for thought.

Chevron to take $10B-plus asset writedown

CVX's sobering reappraisal likely will ripple through the oil and gas industry, forcing others to publicly reassess the value of their holdings in the face of a global supply glut and growing investor concerns about the long-term future of fossil fuels, WSJ reports.

Hmm. I think you will be stopped out pretty fast. But each to their own. The best short will be around 80p in my view. Well, we'll see.

Buy the first pull back after an all time high and sell the first bounce after a major fall. Nothing to see here and have gone short here at circa 46.5p for £50k. I think we will see 40p again this week given the uncertainty, and who knows maybe even mid 30s. Relief rally done people will be selling before tomorrows election, which will only add to the selling pressure this afternoon. The rally was nice whilst it lasted and now bears in control again.

That's not my handle, it's my name :)
Another way of looking at the Tullow drilling decisions so far (not counting Carapa for obvious reasons)is that they were looking to get a relatively low cost discovery(ies) under their belt. We should give them the benefit of the doubt in so much as they were not aware that they were dealing with heavy oil before they drilled.
The ECO March CPR had all the Orinduik prospects in a range of 30-40 API. They were also proving up the three distinctly different aged intervals on the block, presumably testing as far west as they were happy to go. Adopting this approach would give them a great deal of confidence and information about the prospects to the east, closer to our successful neighbours. The final one in the sequence is of course the Cretaceous and I find everything they have done so far logical and in keeping with exploring a frontier block. It's a shame that the problems started the minute they made the first discovery.

The next big news will likely be the new CEO. A good choice will see this share fly. Could happen any time without warning.

We all know the deal here. Rise for them to sell. Dip to buy back more. It's expected. Wouldn't surprise me if we have a day at this level before moving up tomorrow.

Captain James t Kirk I love your handle.
I bought shares this week expecting Carapa to be a duster. My opinion is that there are many prospects which are more expensive to drill deeper into the fairway. Ironically Tullows management were being very conservative in managing their exploration spend and went for the shallower targets which have turned out to be non commercial. Industry players will be lining up to farm in...shame they will have to compromise slightly on terms because of the latest fiasco. DYOR
