You gotta wonder think Odey must be thinking. Effectively made the right bet on Brexit and Trump yet markets keep suprising. He must be getting tempted to bin his shorts....if shorts began to close here it would push the share price to 350-400p IMO.

The more I look at the prospects of this company, the more I like it. Massive hedging protection at decent prices booked in until end of 2018. Suprised more oil companies dont do more hedging.
Massive uplift in porduction due 2017. Debt will start to be repaid, cap outlay massively reduced.

What's not to like?

Doubled my small holding

In fairness, you gotta hand it to tullow , the hedging has been amazing this year:

Hedge position 2016 2017 2018 2019
======================================= ======= ======= ======= =======
Oil hedges
======================================= ======= ======= ======= =======
Volume (bopd) 42,500 38,500 18,000 2,740
======================================= ======= ======= ======= =======
Average floor price protected ($/bbl) $72.81 $61.29 $53.47 $43.91
======================================= ======= ======= ======= =======

Probably the same across the board. There will be a bigger squeeze in 2017, if they use the 2019 hedge, it'll be very tough times indeed for tullow...

debt has been driven up by massive investments in new fields over the last couple of years. These fields have only just started producing-Payback time just around the corner. Profit will now depend on what rates can be negotiated in long term rates. Cap exepnse will be negigible in next few years and cash flow positive going in to 2017.

Increasing debt by $200m to net debt of $4.9b is not reducing debt. Issuing a production warning on TEN is not good.
Trump to bolster US oil production and squeeze oil prices.

Triple bad news this am.

Finger off the buy trigger as management have lost sight of the absolute need to de-gear and fast. Whoever is driving up debt needs a jolt.

Very positive update looking at the figures and the plan to address the debt going forward. The company is in a very positive place and this could significantly re-rate over the next few months in my opinion.

Anardarko say 40k per day... TLW has 47.18%... the sum is less than 20k bopd but may average up over the period as 80k bopd is expected when fully on stream.

I think...

Why it won't be long before oil prices rise again

Just as fast as crudes prices have fallen over the past year or so, they could easily spring back again, says Liam Halligan

Re Wednesday November 9th - Telegraph

Investors will be keen to find out if Tullow Oil’s Tweneboa, Enyenra and Ntomme (TEN) field in Ghana has boosted revenue during the third quarter. In August, TEN began pumping crude and the mid-cap company expects it to average around 23,000 barrels per day this year. The group’s total production guidance for the year stands at 71,700 barrels per day.

However, analysts at Panmure Gordon think production guidance at TEN will be scaled back “given start-up towards the end of the guidance period and delays in the full ramp up due to water injection issues”. Other key areas investors should focus on include projected full-year cash flow, capital expenditure and the group’s balance sheet. Colin Smith, of Panmure Gordon, reckons the balance sheet should be “on the point of deleveraging” with TEN now on stream. Full-year earnings before interest, tax and depreciation forecasts for the year currently stand at around $800m.

Anadarko 3rd quarter update:

'Internationally, the TEN complex offshore Ghana achieved first oil on time and on budget and is currently producing approximately 40,000 gross barrels of oil per day as it continues to ramp up toward facility capacity. Additionally, the company conducted a successful drillstem test of its Paon field offshore Côte d'Ivoire as it continues to evaluate the potential commerciality of this discovery.'
