Energy and Transportation sectors have been the main drivers of growth, with the Aerospace sector stable but not seeing the same levels of growth yet. But this could change very soon, because Senior PLC (SNR) released a trading update this morning and are very positive about this sector.

ic2...

Part of SNR statement below......

2011 has seen further positive news for the large commercial aerospace market (the most significant market segment for Senior), with Boeing and Airbus announcing further increases in the build rates for their main platforms, such that they now jointly anticipate delivering over 40% more aircraft in 2014 than they did in 2010. Their confidence is underpinned by order books of nearly seven years and strong order intake in the first half, as evidenced by announcements at last week's Paris Airshow.

Outlook

The Group's strong first half performance, together with a generally healthy outlook for the remainder of the year, now leads the Board to expect 2011 full year adjusted profit before tax(1) to be ahead of its previous expectations.

Looking further ahead, the underlying fundamentals of the business remain healthy. The large commercial aerospace industry is anticipated to be strong for a number of years with Boeing and Airbus increasing build rates and the Boeing 787 due to be delivered to customers starting in the third quarter of this year. Elsewhere across the Group, the outlook appears generally positive with the regional and business jet manufacturers forecasting build rates to gradually improve from the current low levels, Senior's main military platforms expected to remain relatively solid and the North American truck market showing some signs of recovery. Whilst the macro economic outlook remains uncertain, the Group's industrial businesses are well positioned to benefit from growth in their end markets when this occurs.

Overall, the outlook for Senior remains encouraging for the remainder of the year and over the long term.

What a pull back here, punters were gagging to buy @ 37p recently. Someone bought a shedload of treasury stock off the co at today's bid price too.

You'd never believe it.

Apologies for O/T.

CMH = Worth a look imo. Same sector as TCN, but further behind the curve.

I do hold these and there is some research posted on the CMH thread which might be of interest.

It looks like 3p was the mid price, the charts I use quote mid prices. I used the 7p low from a broader chart without interday lows, I guess very few would have been lucky enough to buy on the low spike.

Must be remembering it wrongly, then. Was 4p the lowest offer price? I didn't buy at the time even though tempted - just gawped at the screen. Did buy in single figures, though.

Even more remarkable is that on that day it opened at 5.16p then spiked down to 3p before closing at 6.5p.

The 2010 low was 4p on March 10th, not 7p. Quite remarkable when you look back.

Yes cfro, Super Stocks has helped me value future potential price with the use of PSR and Net Margins when used together. Haven't as yet come across a situation that needs the PRR calculation, I guess I'm more keen on other sectors at present.

Reading Intelligent Investor now, very enjoyable.

11 March 2010

Tricorn Group plc (the "Company")

TRANSACTION IN OWN SHARES AND TOTAL VOTING RIGHTS

The Company announces that on 10 March 2010 it purchased 875,000 ordinary shares
of 10p each in the Company ("Ordinary Shares") in the open market into treasury
at a price of 5.5 pence per Ordinary Share.
.......

Shown in last set of accounts at £49k as a reduction in shareholders funds (ie as an asset)

"How will treasury shares be
shown in the accounts?

The Accounting Standards Board has
issued a draft abstract on
accounting for treasury shares (8
May 2003). This proposes that
treasury shares should be accounted
for as a deduction from
shareholders' funds (capital and
reserves). The purchase and resale
should be shown as changes in
shareholders' funds and should not
be recognised as gains or losses.
Consideration paid or net proceeds
received are to be shown as
separate amounts in the
reconciliation of movements of
shareholders' funds. The amount of
any reduction to shareholders' funds
for treasury shares held, and the
number of treasury shares held, are
also to be disclosed separately.

Therefore not in the P&L or EPS but a nice increase in shareholders funds
