14/5/2008 11:01 | Seems no-one is interested in TPK any more... | lgwht
25/2/2008 09:25 | Just heard straight from the horses mouth as such, TP are outperforming the market. Geoff Cooper did a management presentation recently and trading throughout the company is robust with most branches performing ahead of last year. Commented that whilst TP have come off on the back of the market in general and the major housebuilders in particular, very little of their profit is in fact generated from these nationals. They have their own accounts with the brick, cement companies ect and in some cases get a better deal than TP. Travis profit is generated from the many small to medium sized companies, most of whom are still seeing overflowing orderbooks. This has been relayed to me by a branch manager and as such is only heresay, allbeit reliable. DYOR ect. | grach
08/2/2008 16:34 | I'm not a holder but had a delivery from the Maidstone depot today. In my former business I always found that talking to the drivers gave me a lot of insight into a company.....Well todays driver said that he was as busy as ever and hadn't noticed any downturn in his workload or number of drivers employed. He also said that the Aylsford depot which is a very large acreage is to be reduced by about half with the other half being sold off for industrial development. He knew the companies shares had dropped through the floor but didn't understand why when from his view things looked OK. | henryatkin
21/1/2008 16:42 | any other buyers of this stock out there? this is old world buy and sell stock Decided to buy some, the numbers seem fine; the only downside is the bear market coming our way. by the way buying for the long term (min 2 years) | kiltrock
14/1/2008 12:12 | Aside from having traded cfd's for the past 3 years, I also own a building company. Over the past week I've had a couple of very interesting chats with managers of a two TP branches we use. Both catergorically stated turnover and profit were ahead of target and that rather than looking to trim staff, they were actually recruiting. It seems that TP are gaining market share and are actively looking to use their vast landbank to create 'TP worlds' single sites that include TP, Wickes, city plumbing and possibly an electrical company that they may be on the aquisition trail of. They are also having a conference in the next month when the share price is one of the topics on the agenda. Last year the question was asked about the possibility of them being taken over, but the Chairman stated with the share price + 2000, the premium on top of this may prove a stumbling block, that would seem to have been removed. Also mentioned to me a Wickes store that was virtually non profitable had been sold to Sainsburys for £ 5M. All this is hearsay and you should DYOR, but thought I would share this information. | grach

16/11/2007 11:44 | To give more detail I was told hostile, but yes jeffian, you're right ... also I'm just not seeing the volume or break from the downtrend that I'd expect in that situation and i heard 48 hrs ago so probably not credible in this case. Keep half an eye on it. | pitwits
16/11/2007 11:31 | Director share purchase just announced, so can't be any bid discussions going on, PitWits. | jeffian
