Market likes the acquisition of Commercial Ceiling Factors announced today. I think they have paid a bit too much, and it now means their intangible assets are on a par with their tangible assets, but on balance I like the new direction this takes them in. Is this TPK's new growth market? If it is I wouldn't want to be a SHI shareholder.

Yup - wish I'd shorted at 1050 - but it could re-test again - results on Monday.

Technical Indicators still strong - 11k roll over today. Methinks it could go up before it decides whether or not to reach the H&S target

Rated a buy in Times this morning. Still only have 13% of the market, which is still highly fragmented, so company see strategy of small scale fill in acquisition as having a couple of good years left in it.

Shorters need to find an alternative, imho.

Ive just bought in (which is probably the kiss of death). They have been and continue to buy up lots of smaller builders merchants all over the country and it appears that their share price goes from strength to strength. An article in last sundays times says that thet are one of britains unloved shares, but who knows, this could spark some interest.

Just thought I would return to the topic of Builders Merchants and the related sectors.

Well the share price of these stocks have moved ever upwards since I thought they would be a good short. Doh!
The trading statements put out by Travis, Wolseley, SIG and others seem to indicate that all is wonderful.

However, in my experience (and that of many people I talk to) it would seem that trade has almost ground to a halt. I was just wondering if any of you with experience of this sector have any similar feedback?
