btw
Indian Rupee has been weak vs US Dollar for 2018 & now
(Dollar strengthening due to their interest rate rising strongly & attracting buyers of dollars)
while the pound has been weak vs most currencies

helpful for the selling prices in India for Microlise & Trak versus competition from USA

(Microlise already has a history of sales in India)

--
chart pnd vs dollar (which defines the resulting difference wrt the Rupee. A change of about 15%, (in favour of UK product sellers in India (Track & Microlise) wrt USA product sellers, not massive % but if it was 15% in other direction it wld be a 30% variation wrt today)

(incl.
'tihese 3 automotive clubs have a total of 8M members

...if 5-8% take up the service/product....the impact on Trak's numbers are easy to see')

interesting

the existing car management system should imo detect many car faults, like the battery charging system not working (probably duff alternator or bad connection), low battery voltage, ignition system problem ?, recently ran out of fuel & problem after re-fueling, air pressure problem in ignition system, brain thinks the electronic key is wrong key, excessive or low water temp., excessive or low oil temp. , low oil, oil press. fault, low water, low hydraulic brake fluid, broken fan belt (some women might not know a car has one) etc

useful advance info for the AA before they arrive
& also useful info to save the repairman a lot of time

I contacted AA re car genie and this was my reply, ME TO AA,Good afternoon, I see on your website that Car Genie subscriptions are not currently being offered. I am not currently an AA member but am consideringbreakdown recovery from various service providers. Can you confirm if the Car Genie / connected car service will, in the future, be available to new members, whether by subscription or as a free inclusive service. AA TO ME,Many thanks, We are hoping to release our new sales strategy of the Car Genie device called 'Smart Breakdown' around the end of February. This will be an additional product for you to purchase with your breakdown membership. It will only be available to purchase online for new members, so please do keep an eye on our website in the coming weeks if you are looking to take up a Car Genie device. Kind regards

Some healthy profit taking going on here, by the looks of things. Perhaps in the face of the chaos unfolding over Brexit.

Wasn't quick enough to dive in and out, but might grab some more if it rows back far enough.

thinking out loud to myself

---

...with Trak's in house design..& production....
..it has the option to do exclusive or semi exclusive deals/products for big players in the world like the AA who might want to offer an exclusive product to help them attract or keep their clients..

----

..one wonders if a big co. like Direct Line might want to own its own company like Trak...with the massive changes in the insurance industry & motoring sector incl. car sharing, Uber, electric scooters etc.

AA have been on the record that connected car is a very exciting area for them and they are looking to use it as a major marketing tool. It even made their last results presentation. They were just fine tuning how to actually package it up. I made my own inquiries and was told that car genie will only be available on subscription when purchased with a new membership. I imagine they will focus on premium members first and then take it from there. As I understand it the device actually pays for itself somewhat in that it helps save AA making unnecessary call outs for certain issues.

thanks for that info

(Im not up to speed with the different AA products,...

as long as the AA are busy doing product initiatives...& using Track to supply them....that's good enough for me...(I know the AA have millions of members...& that Track has a smallish cap. value so big volumes from the AA 'could' impact Trak's turnover/profit & hence share price...that's good enough for coupled with the dirs putting in 700k pnds & Microlise putting in 700k pnds.)

----

...so AA dont now sell the Genie but will provide it as part of the new breakdown package ??

...does Genie have the chance to be a standard product used by every AA member....for the std. breakdown package ? (!!)

(Genie. its product spec. & poss. production cost ; I've got no idea !)

If it's being offered 'free', then there is no requirement for subscription. Also, it says

'don't worry, the app and service is continuing'

Hmm...not sure this is the case. When I search for car genie on the AA website I get this "We're not currently offering new Car Genie subscriptions to existing Members"
Sounds more like they are turning the taps off...

I think this is about to go through the roof. AA website confirms that they are no longer charging for Car Genie but giving it away!

This means millions of units being sold.

No wonder Trkm8 needed the money for stock which will now come back!

It was a strategic partnership that took the form of a subscription. PIs, were not invited to the party - nor were IIs. If either were I doubt many would have taken up the opportunity, given the negativity that surrounded Trak at the time. However, there were plenty of shares in the market when it was down in the mid-teens - some including myself, took the opportunity to snap up a few (in my case to average down).

So far, the subscription / tie up seems to have worked out, but there's a long way to go yet. Shares rarely go up in straight line, so you may yet get your chance. IMO, as a long-term investment, it's still pretty cheap, but not without risk.
