24/1/2019 15:08 | And another award - well done Trak, only gone and won the Innovation in Technology award at the GB Fleet Event in London....should lead to some more sales hopefully...and a nice price rise | keepquiet
23/1/2019 12:08 | ah ha interesting I didnt realise that truck tyres could be rented... maybe Bridgestone plans to offer renting of car tyres as well (noting they make a lot (!!) of tyres for cars as well as for trucks) if that is tyre co. Bridgestone's plan then telematics co. shares are surely worth more....since other tyre cos. wld need telematics data for vehicles/tyres if want to copy/compete with Bridgestone's approach/strategy..& while noting that insurance is available with a cost related to km travelled & driving style/risk.....and the Trak units are available on a rental basis the world is changing... | smithie6
23/1/2019 10:35 | Truck tyres are often rented but the tyre Co. has limited/ no visibility of usage and tyre pressure (which significantly affects tyre life) Telematics can allow them to monitor usage and pressure and thus charge different pricing if they are not inflating the tyres properly. Simples... | epsomsalts1
23/1/2019 10:21 | Maybe they want to have a Good Year ? | tonybaloni
23/1/2019 08:52 | ..anyone see why a tyre manufacturer (Bridgestone. (Japanese, global )) decided to buy the telematics business of Tom Tom ? I dont see the synergy/logic (advertise their tyres at little or no cost to the customer base of vehicle users ?) | smithie6
22/1/2019 14:56 | Figures I've quoted above are all be in sterling not euros btw. | michaelmouse
22/1/2019 11:59 | & with 10M£ of recurring revenue etc etc (& the value per subscriber (if ~£1000 is correct) in the Tom Tom telematics sale multiplied by Trak's number of subscribers) (Trak has I think ~ 250k in biggest sector, then 50-70k I think in insurance & similar order of magnitude in other sector. H1 results gives the data...but Im going out for a coffee !) the cap. value of £18M for Trak looks too low imo | smithie6

21/1/2019 14:44 | interesting that in 2019 the driver detection functions will be increased to include driver micro sleeping/naps...ie. the driver drifting into sleep. ..clever | smithie6
21/1/2019 14:36 | Tech Shortlisted for another award: hxxps://www.trakm8.c | knowbodyyouno
20/1/2019 21:34 | here is a link to the 5 year chart where the share price hit 300p if it goes from 17p back to 300p it would be a rise of 1764%.....so imo one shouldnt get too fixed on the % rise from the minimum. No where is it written that +80% is the limit. When a share price rises from a minimum after a big fall the initial % always look big since the rise from an overdone fall is often very fast & hard. And on this 5 year chart the current price is close to the minimum price. Im hoping for more +% in coming weeks.. time will tell what happens | smithie6
20/1/2019 21:23 | .. & one could argue/justify that getting Microlise ( a bigger company operating in the same sector) to invest 2.2M pounds at 22p was more important & better than getting an II to invest that same £2.2M ( or 2 IIs at 1.1M each) | smithie6
20/1/2019 21:06 | ..fair points but, imo a lot of the 80% rise is because the cash raise of £3M via issuing new shares made a fundamental difference to the stability of the accounts & the relationship of risk/reward... .before the cash raise the risk part was much higher.... (& the addition of Microlise taking 20% of the co. was also part of the benefit to the sp) ---- 'if' the AA & hence Trak does achieve volume via the AA product launch in Feb. for breakdown service incorporating Trak's Genie & then perhaps via AA linking it in with its insurance offerring......and/o ..with income coming via a monthly income where Trak doesnt appear to have to do anything !! how to price those possibilities into the share price in advance... ..very difficult ...but at a cap. value of ~£18M it doesnt look very expensive to me, especially if look at how much they've spent on acquisitions, R & D, recurring revenue of £10M/year & consider the value of the relationships they have with clients (incl AA etc etc), value of 250k users in 1 sector, Z k in fleet sector & Y k in insurance sector, & the value of having Microlise owning 20% ( ~ 3.5M pnds worth !), & hence being a committed investor/partner, opportunities in India via Microlise....... | smithie6
20/1/2019 20:02 | Danger that we are getting a bit carried away with all the chat of potential good news. Trak's share price is up by around 80% in little more than a month. New contract awards have been promised before but have often not materialised. Until they do, my confidence in Trak's long-term recovery would be greatly strengthened if one or two serious institutional investors were to disclose notifiable stakes in Trak. The lack of such investors on Trak's share register has always been one the weaknesses in the investment case for Trak. | bottomfisher
20/1/2019 12:26 | tony ...interesting but imo there is a movement in some countries for all sales/receipts to be simultaneously being electronically sent to the computers of the tax department ( I understand that it functions in at least 1 EU country). In some countries with a history of high tax/VAT evasion. (21-28% VAT in most European countries...big bucks...& the taxman likes to get paid !) ...so it might happen for all taxi meters in the future.. | smithie6
20/1/2019 12:21 | is there an equivalent of the AA in India ? ;-)) | smithie6
20/1/2019 12:20 | post 3516 AA & phps pushing their insurance dept./offer....linke (& note that the AA claims that 80% of breakdowns are fixed by their breakdown engineers.....(impre all makes a lot of sense & with 2500 breakdown vehicles on the streets the AA have an advantage over a pure insurance co. ---- the opportunity is there...with product release/promotion by the AA in February. | smithie6
20/1/2019 12:07 | In my experience most taxi drivers wouldn't want to be tracked because they would then have to declare their true earnings for tax | tonybaloni
20/1/2019 12:04 | How many taxis are there in India ? ...the following post/analsis says ~1 million...as part of 29 million cars in 2015 ( which must be higher now in 2019) hxxps://www.quora.co .... How many use a telematics unit ? Are there opportunities for Trak, via Microlise's experience & contacts in India (& an MD that looks to have Indian blood) ? no idea | smithie6 |
