06/4/2022 16:29 | fernandesb: I use Investment Trusts to cover global stocks usually those that are income generating. I think circa 71% of investors lose money on spread betting so odds stacked against me....too risky for me. | catch007
06/4/2022 15:58 | hi catch007, I was in AGY many years ago, to be honest i seldom invest in penny shares, BARC is different, I remember BARC being 53 pence it is now 143 pence. Do you invest in American companies? I normally spread bet on both Uk and American companies. | fernandesb
06/4/2022 13:38 | fernandesb: Be aware AGY & YGEN are HIGHER RISK long term plays I have core positions of 11.5p and 6p respectively however I bought YGEN all the way up to 20p so I am losing on average at present. I have BARC on watch and will buy once price volatility settles. To answer your question I bought into TPG around 2015 buying primarily in the 5p-6p range. I felt like many others the business was oversold and undervalued post Corac debacle and I started posting here on the BB and gradually accruing a decent holding. Now I just look in to the BB see what is happening out of interest. It is also worth watching how SAG turn the screw so I know the moves if I am unfortunate enough to hold a position in another company to be asset stripped. The systemic removal of the TPG BOD is a good example and I have learned a lot with their tactics. GL | catch007
06/4/2022 11:38 | you are spot on catch 007.always best to do you own research. I bought royal mail at about £1.50 when it reached £1.36 also bp at £2.0 when the lowest price was £1.94.I sold royal mail at over £5.0. i am still holding BP.I will look into your shares Barc, Agy,Ygen etc.I fully agree with you regarding tipsters, however it is good to look at their analysis, just to get an idea and then do your own research. However i feel that "timing" both buying and selling is important. Opportunities always present themselves, eg Brexit, Covid Ukarine war etc, when shares are oversold. A good example Polymetal epic poly which dropped from over £20 to 93 pence it is now over £3.00.Can i ask you a personal question catch 007 with all you vast experience, why are you wasting your time on the tpg thread. I also remember Buywell who was well aware of the short comings of tpg. I wish to say sorry to him here.I will have to look at Qinetip who Dope007 mentioned. | fernandesb
06/4/2022 09:39 | And Qinetiq where happy to buy it plus the staff Fat00mch. | dope007
06/4/2022 09:07 | fernandesb) Thank you always good to see a profit on risk investments. I do my own research and take my own risks running a portfolio £1m+. There is now a wide range of Bitcoin options so the risk is multiplied in the blockchain space. When I followed tipsters I have come a cropper at times in the past. There are many oversold opportunities presenting themselves in a war & inflationary environment however vital as always to do deep research. I added to my LGEN holding at £2.60 last month 6.5% Dividend and a great business. Currently looking to add more BARC oversold on bad news to circa £1.47 with normal trading recent £450m losses will be covered in a single quarter and a buyback will support share price - looking for a return to £2+ is not unreasonable. Couple of small caps I hold AGY long lead time for allergy treatments but returns could be amazing (really good management team) and YGEN at 8pish sold down on covid testing ending however excellent range of natal screening tests and now global coverage, FY trading update due soon expect a move upwards on results (timojelly also holds long term). Anyway this is TPG thread so I will shut up LOL. Good luck to you | catch007
05/4/2022 22:08 | Hi catch007 thanks for your comments, i must admit i did not take notice of members who were warning others about tpg. Anyway check out South Bank Investment Research. I paid them £284 for life membership. I have more than recovered this amount. Recently on the 22nd Feb 2022 i was tipped a company epic code MODE the price was just over 9 pence the price today was over 14 Pence .i was also tipped company epic code IKA price this month when it was tipped was 106 pence price to date is 126 Pence it touched 146 Pence. They allow you 1 month to check them out and if you are not happy they will refund you the whole membership fee. unfortunately i missed out on Bitcoin big time. This Company sent me an email advising me to purchase Bitcoins when a Bitcoin was about 10 dollars in 2016.Unfortunately i ignored the email. An investment of £200 would have made me a multi millionaire. One of my friends bought 2 Bitcoins at £2000 each about 2 or 3 years ago, he was telling me to purchase even half a coin. He sold one coin for over £69000, paid the outstanding loan on his home and most of his debts. He is still holding one coin which is still worth over £35000.He recons that the price of one Bitcoin will reach £200000. I seriously advise you to look into Crypto Currencies. Swiss Paul is spot on. Crypto Currencies will be the Future Internet. | fernandesb
05/4/2022 20:21 | Hah - crypto is a cert compared to this bag of sh1t | swiss paul
05/4/2022 16:39 | fernandesb: Thank you for your response I was being a bit tongue in cheek. Good luck with the crypto trades though like options its an area I have no expertise and therefore too high a risk for me. Unfortunately several good people were misled here by the drivel meister and those who disagreed were castigated for pointing out the obvious incompetence and lack of commercial acumen in many of the posts. | catch007
05/4/2022 13:59 | Catch - good point😃 Every cloud has a silver lining. With TPG it's been the ability to crystallise losses to offset gains elsewhere | fat00mch
05/4/2022 11:48 | fatoomch: Look on the bright side you may well end up with £100 back after all! Just teasing! Is this the same fernandesb, a disciple of pervy ars who posted of their 750k trades and large holding in TPG; and how he was a sophisticated trader in options? A wind up post surely! | catch007
05/4/2022 11:28 | I wish I'd invested £100 😪 | fat00mch
05/4/2022 09:08 | Well, Pavey reckoned on the 31 March: 'I suspect that for those not scarred by previous events there is real value here at this price...' So on that basis, it's probably best to sell sharpish. | supernumerary
04/4/2022 21:20 | Sounds like you don't know anything. TPG were happy to take £600k for it and offload the resource overhead to boot. That doesn't sound like they attributed much value to it. | fat00mch
04/4/2022 18:50 | You have no idea on the trials or others trials despite the claim in your post | dope007
04/4/2022 11:56 | Why would you say that? My understanding is based on information from TPG website - which I've shared. I didn't make it up. If that's incorrect or I've misconstrued- more than happy to be corrected. As well as educating me - you'd be educating other shareholders | fat00mch
04/4/2022 11:30 | No need to, because I know you don't | dope007
04/4/2022 07:22 | What an absolute cluster... | timojelly
03/4/2022 07:39 | Enlighten me then dope "This advanced artificial intelligence and machine learning software has satisfied Phase 3 of a 2-year MOD programme, which saw tpgroup working with Thales and other contributors, to demonstrate autonomous navigation within unmanned missions." | fat00mch
02/4/2022 18:42 | Fatm00mch You don't know what you are talking about, regards the software and Thales | dope007
01/4/2022 14:19 | Northstar. 6 month turnover 100k and a loss of £200k. Seems sensible to sell it unless it was on the verge of exponential growth. Selling it has netted them 600k and saved them 400k a year.... | elsa7878
01/4/2022 14:05 | Not sure what you expect the present management to do now. A look under the hood and it is clearly a freak show. They need to sell off the unprofitable or very capital intensive businesses and retrench to a core portfolio. It's clear Science Group wanted the maritime business and seemed willing to buy everything to get it. Clearly with hindsight not a good move. The poor performance was clear for all to see in the figures, what wasn't was the recent £4.5 million in contract provisions. Recent broker note (for what it's worth) reckons that they will be in net debt of under £2 million after this sale, If they can repair the balance sheet with further sales, reduce costs (leases down by a million a year for the next 2 years) and sort out the problem contracts you will end up with a decent maritime business, Osprey and the defence business. Defence spending is forecast to skyrocket from here on so they should do well from it. I think this is beginning to look very tempting and I have never been a shareholder. Science group buys and extracts the value. Will take longer with this one and they are doing the heavy lifting for all other shareholders (the 70% they don't own). Must be galling. I like to speak to management before pulling the trigger. Can't find any numbers apart from numbers that go straight to voicemail. Has anyone been in contact or know who and where to call? | elsa7878
01/4/2022 12:06 | marktime1231: Sapienza & Westek combined acquisition prices £17m - TPG current market cap circa £17m - what a crock the management have turned out to be here. I must be fair and say I was particularly excited about Sapienza purchase initially around clearing the space satellite debris however informed posters highlighted it was really a recruitment agency and the overall business was becoming a full consultancy, a sector I am not interested in investing. For a small company like TPG to be involved in so many projects Hydrogen, AI, Space tracking all with long lead times and heavy development costs were all red flags to me. I commented many times about the huge recruitment drive cost impact on the bottom line and fiscal drag effect as no new orders were being won to drive the hockey stick income needed to pay for it (I was derided by one particular poster who did not understand this and also how contract framework agreements worked!). The decision for me to exit however was driven by the BOD lying about the Advanced Engineering Unit wasting £millions in the process and hugely damaging the balance sheet, this was compounded by buying Osprey and denuding the business of cash flow at a critical time. To this day I cannot understand why the BOD did not seek Covid grants and financial assistance when it was clearly having operational difficulties. When the offer came from SAG it was a simple decision to sell a fairly substantial holding as I had lost all faith in the BOD and in hindsight I was lucky to get out with a small profit (average price circa 6.10p per share as I recall). I remain saddened at the losses incurred by PI's here however I cannot see a recovery to even 6.5p now. | catch007 |
