And to combat that inflation above plan in say 3 years time...... interest rate rises... the accepted wisdom is the longer they leave it the higher the rates...

Vauch, you are quite right I need to get real.
Adding some missing calculations to indulge in this fantasy calculation is not getting real.
Would anyone ever lend them the cash?

However giving an example that everyone has heard of and understands; to illustrate how construction and engineering estimates of multi-year projects are usually no where near the final costs - is real.

How about one you have probably never heard of , out in the sticks then, fairly simple, what could go wrong, arguably in an oiler area.....

Look up the "Aberdeen bypass" and the effect that had on quoted companies.

The FEED study was +/- 25%

TWENTY FIVE PERCENT - do you think since they plumbed for the figure in the middle they had any "Real" idea ?

Do you know that copper recently hit an all time high, that other metal prices have leapt (no metal involved in this project?).
That inflation in the US has taken off and is "sticky" around 5% already
That labour shortages are pushing up costs.

That next year's planned infrastructure spend by Biden will lead to even greater inflation in construction....

But why worry if its $82m or $137m or $150m ?
If no one will lend it to them it does not matter....

As a State, Utah is currently producing 90k bopd.

So unless the 5 Salt Lake refineries are taking oil from other states to be processed, in total they are only operating at around just under 50% capacity.

I'm sure there will be smaller refineries too to add to that list refining around 1-5k a day. These would be easier to deal with than the big boys. It goes to show that our 5k a day could be swallowed up easily within a close network of refineries.

The refineries in the Salt Lake City area are...

Marathon - Processing capacity of 66k bopd.
Tesoro - Processing capacity of 58k bopd.
Chevron - Processing capacity of 55k bopd.
Big West Oil - Processing capacity of 35k bopd.
Silver Eagle - Processing capacity of 10.5k bopd.

Value will accrue when things happen. No one is destroying value - there is no value here apart from hope value. Value could start to accrue in October if the deposit is paid and there is a substantive plan in place to fund the land debt. Next comes the plant etc funding arrangement. If / when it is in place, then considerable more value.
Why are you rushing so? Let the Board get it right - they may require MORE time!

Although academic only Fenners, it is worth pointing out that there is no mention of the 740 miles to a Los Angeles refinery by road in the costing. Probably the nearest refinery.

No risk to reputation from gratuitous road miles for a 'major' then.

.....

He doesnt even know Utah has oil refineries. PATHETIC..

Just to add to Stuart Little's last post...

It is anticipated that there will be approximately 25 tankers per day required to transport oil produced from the 5k plant, with the plant being configured in such a way that there will be multiple load out points allowing tankers to be filled simultaneously.

Existing oil producers in the Uinta Basin can also transport oil to further afield refineries via the current rail network operating out of Salt Lake City.....

"Currently basin producers reportedly ship about 12,000 b/d to US Gulf Coast refiners by rail, trucking oil from the basin and then loading it to major rail lines south of Salt Lake City. The most notable Uinta producers are EP Energy and Ovintiv that produce from 10,000-20,000 b/d per well. But there also are a number of smaller operators in the basin."

Why these guys on the other side are so persistent on destroying any value in TOM. Are they paid employed people by some criminal gang? Or some sick people? if they are not holders , is logical to spend time on evaluating TOM is good or not?

Fenners
Trouble with this project, the BOARD has not outlined the risk sensitivities. The project is massive for a tiddler operation and is going to be so reliant on so many
third parties if and when. Investors have jumped on the bandwagon of exhuberance promoted by the board and are anticipating the conclusion before the start.
The Board might have been wiser to down play the exhuberance.
