Today's TU is rather mixed, cash up , Europe recovering but Korea down . Surprised wasn't more down today, but maybe the bad news wasn't news.

IHT don't speculate in a (nother) news vacuum, you'll have Claire Richie back on here reminding how many shares are still in 'the family' ;-)

IMHO it all smells like 'joint' decision making with Rockwood which bodes better long term.

Short term expect a full kitchen sink exercise and the first real test against 'family' interests is to stop paying out another unwarranted divi while taking the company into debt!

A week ago Titon announced the appointment of a new CEO for April. Yesterday the chairman departs without warning. In a few days there will be a trading update. Any sensible outfit in control of its destiny would have tied these events into one coherent set of shareholder/market comms, but no, not Titon.
Did Titon with its ‘family company’ mentality fail to consult Rockwood on the appointment of the new CEO and did Rockwood let it be known that the appointment of someone with no industry or recent UK experience, after a 7 month search, tells them that few candidates fancy the challenge? Alternatively, or perhaps both, were Rockwood made insiders to a lousy imminent trading update? Either way, Rockwood turn activist, tell Ritchie they have no confidence in him, and put their man on the board to ensure order. Looks like a well-executed firing to me.
Unless Rockwood like the incoming CEO, and he fancies the regime change, do not be surprised at an announcement that he is not coming after all.
In the meanwhile, thank you Rockwood for the bounce in the share price.

Wad Collector, I think you got your facts a little wrong. The last CEO went in April, Alexandra French. Here, the chairman has gone, and probably not because he wanted to.

Pugugly, someone bought 6000 @ 64p then a grand total of 58 more shares were bought in the whole day at 70p. It wasn't really a significant rise just the noise from a small company with MMs trying to keep the spread wide.

Wad, as far as I'm concerned she was being adversarial trying to snuff out genuine concerns that have only got bigger since.
Is it not a concern to you that members of 'the family' sell out when a profit warning slipped into results by omission?

It is rare to see someone using their real name on BBs and clearly carries more weight than those of us hiding behind User IDs. Assuming that she is not Sparticus of course.
Shame that her posting resulted in an adversarial response , and I am not sure that giving you a negative tick is cowardly ; they didn't like your approach I suspect.
