Oh dear, the 6 month results are not good. This has now become a loss making company. No dividend, sales down substantially with some optimistic noises and usual management speak about changes planned. Even the expectations of a return to profitability in 2024 only applies to the UK business.
On the positive side the US part is making some dollars, and there is no net debt. Looks like 2024 is not going to be the year of share price recovery...

In this latest episode of the ‘Desert Island Investor’ my very dear friend and fellow pod-castaway Paul Kerin and I discuss Titon Holdings ( TON ) and my attendance at their recent AGM -

IHT don't speculate in a (nother) news vacuum, you'll have Claire Richie back on here reminding how many shares are still in 'the family' ;-)

IMHO it all smells like 'joint' decision making with Rockwood which bodes better long term.

Short term expect a full kitchen sink exercise and the first real test against 'family' interests is to stop paying out another unwarranted divi while taking the company into debt!

Chris Mills certainly seems to see something in TON.

The paying of a dividend can only be described as reckless when considering the cash position of the company in this high interest environment. I can only imagine it was done to avoid the red flag phrase of "dividend cancellation".

When a company acts to manage its share price rather than its business it is wise to exit.

Oh dear the interims tell us that losses have increased, and there is an attempt to tell us that it is sector-wide.
I do wonder about the logic of continuing to pay a dividend when it is not being generated.

I think we get the dividend on Friday. Not much but better than nothing.

cfro - a cheery 'welcome' would have been nice, but perhaps you bought in in the 20/30p days. You seem to have forgotten your own post at 30/11/2022. There is little sign of a new strategy in the last TU or the AR, and an acknowledged need urgently to convert inventory to cash.

pugugly - IHT planning using AIM stocks relies on a bit of liquidity, and there is none with TON as there has not been any good news for a while. If the family ever needs cash from its (IHT exempt) holdings to pay IHT due on other assets they may be selling against themselves.

Let's see how Harwood vote at the GM and hope that TON will report some progress. In the meanwhile, only a fool would vote against all resolutions. That sort of comment makes me think that this board is not for me.

Well, revenue only down -5.7% to £22.1m.
Plus outlook statement reasonably positive so i think im quite happy with that.

Interesting appointment - However going from being a relatively small fish in a very large pond to being the big fish in a very small pond.

Only concern is that with JM she will have had access to a large number of internal support staff - legal - sales and operational management etc - at TON she will have to do most of this herself although KR has deep City experience.
