Some buys at 85 this am ; perhaps it was the nadir.

The last three years have given Titon and all other small manufacturing companies a lot to contend with.Obviously going forward the economy looks like we are going to enter a period of recession however Titon have faced this before and i expect them to survive.Good to see diectors putting money where there mouth is and i feel Ms French is someone the chairman can work with.On the plus side Korea looks like it will show a small profit and with new products coming online end of 2022 beginning 2023 korea could well make a meaningful contribution again. As always GLA

You cant read too much into director share purchases no, i agree, but combine Ms French's buy and Mr Hooper's and you have over £38k of shares bought which is not to be sniffed at.

The main thing is at least they are willing to put their own money in.

With the Chairman's large stake plus the Anderson family's holding along with the new shareholder Rockwood ordinary investors here would now hope that all the important stakeholders are pulling in the same direction.

Agreed - but surely 75p will prove to be the nadir given the balance sheet strength, historic performance, and the directors' "skin in the game". It should be more like 130p IMO, but it wont happen quickly given the update - unless it gets taken over, of course, but that would necessitate more than 130p.

Not sure we should put much value on that purchase of £10K worth. But that at least was more than her predecessor . There have been rather a lot of board changes in the last year or so, but I see why they chose Ms French. She has a Science degree from Cambridge , albeit a 2-2, but she stayed at Johnson Matthey for her entire working career. So hopefully will stay at Titon for a long time. And given that she must have done a lot of travelling at JM , hopefully won't find Korea a step too far.

Non-exec G P Hooper has picked-up 35,498 shrs at 80p.

That must have mopped-up most of the sellers today.

Yes not much optimism to be found in that TU. It's a long way back up.

Rockwood were happy to buy at 85p will be interesting to see if they increase their holdings at lower prices (if there is any stock available of course).

....Or maybe not , as it sinks back to 87p. It looks a long way back to the £2 highs of 4 yrs ago despite the covid induced ventilation enthusiasm. Quickly forgotten I expect.

Maybe I should pay more interest to institutional trades! A few closing buys around 105p.

I see the actual trades were 1.3 Million shares on 31st May @ 85p
The corollary of that of course it that someone felt the opposite and sold 1.3 Million! Which is why I can't get interested in these institutional trades.

Yes, it's particularly interesting as he doesn't usually seem to go for out and out value shares - more GARP type stuff or in putting complementary businesses together etc.

I see Chris Mills has taken a stake, he's pretty shrewd, i'm glad he sees value here.

A couple of buys at 89 and 90p this am have bounced up the price ; let us hope the beginnings of a share price recovery.

i think divi is paid in order to shut up disappointed family members........who otherwise will start to sell out and thus the protection of the chairman will disappear.

Had to pay 76 for my top up this morning was hoping for lower.Dividend being paid so shows a bit of confidence. They have had to face brexit and covid and now inflation.Good strong balance sheet will hold them in good stead as we head into recession.I am betting these survive and many other indebted companies dont.Good management team here imho.As always GLA and as with all value stocks patience is needed.

Those interims seem to say we are struggling , are going to struggle for a while but are trying hard and think we will be OK in the end.
Well, hardly surprising that the share price has been hammered. This used to be a 3 bagger for me , but I think it is sit on hands time now.

Unlikely to be taken over given the register - unless someone delivers a knockout blow of course.

Also - they've actually done a good job in recent years IMO, pre covid followed by well-publicised supply chain problems that are also beyond their control. In the preceding three years they delivered op' profits of £1.85m, £2m and £1.63m. They've also paid good dividends and a return to pre-pandemic levels would be a yield of 6.25%.

Add to that NTAV of 130pps, a "Ben Graham" (current assets less all liabilities) of 75pps, plus an historic p/e of 4.2 and we're firmly in value territory, which is why I bought more this morning - as there were no surprises IMO. Of course, it may take patience as value-cum-yield investing usually does.

this company needs to be taken over by a more competent owner - under the current stewardship they are getting absolutely nowhere. well, but for downhill of course.
