You're right Pythian - i've been employed as a consultant to TV production companies, creating new formats and program ideas. The indie business is all about having the right connections with a few commissioning editors. Unfortunately, Tinopolis doesn't really have these connections (outside Wales); and those at Television Corporation who do have the connections have either already left, are planning to leave, or could be tempted to leave. TCP's production pipeline is likely to start to dry up because of this, not to mention S&V's loss of Channel 4 cricket etc...

... i'm staying with my prediction of a share price fall from 34p to 20p (currently 28p)

I'm sorry to say, chaps, that this ain't going to go anywhere but down. The CE is apparently relying on his Welsh management to get him the further commissions he needs in the rest of the UK. Unfortunately this is not going to work because the Welsh boys and girls are used to getting soft commissions from S4C. They're not used to the hard graft nor do they have the contacts. Somebody told me that one of the people working there used to be a pretty sleepy programme commissioner from S4C! I don't know whether that is true, though. Someone here will know.

I agree with you mach, i also expect an upward move next week as the TCP conversion date is on 16 Feb.

One thing is for sure, there will certainly be alot of activity in the next two weeks...hopefully resulting in a move in a Northernly direction!

a tick up is on the way! That spread is gonna narrow! It's nice to see the MM's asking for full 30p price for big buyer's. A seller got 27.5p today so mid price should be 28.75. I expect a .75p tick up by Monday, perhaps more!

sandbank - only having fun - waiting to get in to TIN - is this the bottom anyone?

gurp - Trostre is still in operation. Not really a steel works as it takes in steel coils produced elsewhere (Margam) and coats in Tin - in other words it's a tinplate works. No pollution - in fact it sits next to a thriving wildfoul and wetlands area, a SSSI site. No steelworks now left in the area.

ps 50's - I'm oldish - but not that old! llanelli has come out well. the valleys not so well - beautiful area before the mining, now that's gone little to take it's place for the people despite wda & europe efforts

we lived there for 15 years & it's not a bad place itself (comparatively) & on the edge of glorous countryside. it's not in the rhondda!

I dipped in today. I think this is the bottom and recent buying suggest the Institutions agree. That 200k buy today might be an institution buying in.I know it's rather soon but there might be a link up or takeover with CSS stellar. Acquisitor own 29.8% now and Tinopolis have 130k of shares unless they sold them since the annual report. Given the measly price they paid to TV corporation- a steal IMHO- I'm glad I'm not a Stellar Holder. CSS Stellar is 41.5p with an unaudited NAV of 76p as below from the interims.
"The first half of 2005 and the period running up to this announcement has seen
the Group focus on becoming a holding company specialising in the investment in
sports and entertainment businesses. Therefore the Board has considered the
valuation of the assets as well as the operating results.


The results for the period to 30 June 2005 are an adjusted operating profit of
£490,000 prior to goodwill amortisation compared with a loss of £552,000 in
2004.


The Board has carried out a review of the goodwill held on the balance sheet and
has concluded that an impairment provision of £13.7 million should be made. This
gives a net asset value for the group of 76p per share. The Board of CSS intend
to apply to restructure the share capital in the Company balance sheet to allow
the possibility to pay dividends more quickly in the future.

A considerable amount of management time has been spent over the last year on
working to improve the operating performance of Group companies. In Europe this
has been successful; the operating profits in Europe have improved to £1.2
million (2004: £0.9 million). Our European businesses, which are all ranked as
number one or two in their sectors, will also be beneficiaries of the successful London bid for the 2012 Olympics, with Europe becoming an increased centre of focus over the next five years."
Hmmm-London Olympics, Soho based TV Corp. Incidentally they hold rights over Juan Pablo Montoya. Don't TIN do rally coverage? It's all car racing to me.

Mike - TIN's core business is in relatively good shape. One of the problems is that TIN's core business is only a small part of the turnover of the enlarged TIN / TCP, and it is TCP's revenue which is set to fall significantly over the next twelve months. Combine this with the queue of TCP shareholders looking to sell their new TIN shares and, to answer your question, i expect that TIN will fall to about 20p (i.e. down another 30% or so)

I presume you are in Wales (or welsh?) to be so knowledgeable about Welsh TV?

Incidentally do their exec's really get their home work mileage paid for? - wish I did!. Not tax deductible though - ah well.

Would you know enough about TIN to make a judgement as to when their price might stop falling? All obviously just your opinion.

Seems to me from what little I have read about TIN, that they are actually successful as a small broadcaster, and thus - gotta come good eventually - share price wise.

EXPLORER: I agree the TIN share price looks like a disaster area at the moment and the company needs to start issuing a run of positive RNSes and burnishing its image....a couple of industry awards and some new contracts would be good. They should also give David Dimbleby a seat on the board (he is 50% Welsh) . After all, they put the presenter of their daily Welsh-language tv show, Angharad Mair, on the board - so why not give the host of Question Time a seat too - perhaps by way of compensation for him not getting the BBC DG job?

Going back to the Dafydd Evans story - well that's already in the price and is now old news.The crash happened in 2004 and Evans - although still nominally on the TIN staff - is a dead man walking. He is not on the board - and I don't think ever was, even though he had "director" in his title. He's now been airbrushed out of TIN website. If he's sent to jail TIN would be entitled to can him without compensation - indeed they probably could fire him anyway. Observers do not think he would be missed and his departure is unlikely to affect the TIN share price other than positively.

My main concern about this incident was not the outcome of last week's court-case but that Evans had been issued with a high-spec Merc as a company car and was being allowed to live in a plush suburb of Cardiff rather than in the grittier estates of Llanelli 50 miles to the West where the company is based. He must therefore have been making a 100-miles-a day round trip - not good for company expenses. Perhaps TIN should now issue its executives with altogether cheaper and flimsier vehicles which might concentrate their minds when driving.

Newton - this is the first of a series of bad news from TIN/TCP which, when combined with ex-TCP investors selling their TIN shares, is likely to drive down the TIN price over the coming weeks / months. Some of the worst news will actually be coming from the TCP stable of programs, like sunset & vine (channel 4 cricket)where we're forecasting a significant fall in turnover in the next 12 months
