19/1/2006 15:11 | JURGEN: Administration? ...No I don't think that at all. Ron Jones who runs TIN is a shrewd cookie, an ex-Arthur Andersen chartered accountant. He put all the financial backing in place for this bid so there are no problems on thefinancial front. TIN itself has a long running bedrock contract with S4C which is a milch cow which pays all the comapany's running costs. The problem TIN has is integrating an operation in South Wales with a company in Soho . Watch "Question Time" tonight and see if you can spot the difference! | sandbank

19/1/2006 14:34 | What are the chances of the former TV Corporation management now making a bid for tinopolis? An offer wouldn't be subject to the conditions that Tinopolis had sewn up with the major shareholders of TV corp. Which I guess lead to the failure of the managements rumoured first attempt at a buy-out. | nchls

19/1/2006 08:05 | Inevitably heads roll in the usual ritual slaughter accompanying a take over but I do think the house-cleaning carried out by TIN is a bit drastic . Remember in this business it's the people who are the company assets - not the hardware Tom Chandos (Chairman), Roger Chovil and Karen Brown all resigned - fair enough. But I did hope TIN would have had the sense to try to persuade George Carey (Director of Programmes) to stay. Carey wasn't responsible for the financial mess TCP got itself into but he was responsible for much of the high quality programming it made. As Carey WAS - to all intents and purposes - the embodiment of Mentorn and TCP. TIN have now bought an empty shell. They should have secured a retention of his contract before doing the deal. Meanwhile TIN don't have all that much talent and firepower to bring to bear. Their Director of Development Dafydd Evans is currently appearing in court on a charge of causing death by dangerous driving after allegedly driving his Mercedes out onto a main road into the path of an on-coming motorcyclist. The biker died in the ensuing fireball. Evans allegedly disappeared from the scene and claims to have spent 14 hours overnight face-down in a field unaware he was being hunted by a police helicopter and tracker dogs. The court heard he'd been drinking before the accident- but he denies this. | sandbank

12/1/2006 23:57 | Well Question Time turned out to be the usual tedious affair with Dimbleby wasting acres of airtime (as usual) with his interminable parish announcements and allowing Gordon Brown confidante Ed Balls to go on and on and on and on - to the latter's obvious satisfaction. (The BBC is certainly showing due gratitude for its generous new licence settlement). Question Time now features this curious illuminated desk which bounces a pea green light onto the panellists' faces and makes them all look slightly sea-sick. In the circumstances perhaps it was just as well Charles Kennedy wasn't there. The usual team, including Editor Nick Pisani, were running the show. Credits were those of Mentorn Oxford - no mention of TIN. So we await next week's show. I think the question is now whether TIN will be too timid to tinker with what might be perceived as a "winning formula" (it isn't really) or whether they'll have the steel pelotas to take a pretty tired show and do something really original with it . If they're not planning any changes then, one has to ask, why did they bother taking over the TCP in the first place? | sandbank
12/1/2006 19:51 | SAT69: Well tonight sees the first BBC 1 "Question Time" under the new management. Let's hope TIN don't screw up. | sandbank

11/1/2006 15:53 | HMM... Well after being assured that TIN's managers were all sharp tools - now I'm not so sure. One of them, after a few alleged drinks, got into his alleged "silver Mercedes" (why aren't Mondeos standard-issue in TIN?) and allegedly drove into the path of a motorcyclist - killing him. Here's the newspaper report:- Dafydd Evans, the 41-year-old director of development with production company Tinopolis, is accused of pulling out of a junction into the path of a motorcyclist. Geraint Walters, prosecuting, told Swansea Crown Court that Evans, of Penylan, Cardiff had been to a pub in Llandeilo where he drank a pint of Guinness, then to a christening reception close by at the Angel Hotel where, the prosecution will claim, he had glasses of wine and some champagne. Evans denies causing death by dangerous driving. | sandbank |
