Inland in Aberdeenshire the weather can be very bad. Rural roads at altitude can make for difficult conditions. In a bad winter there is lots of snow, which can remain frozen for weeks.

Jonners I have been asked to authorise the fitment of all season tyres to vehicles in the Aberdeen area, does the weather really get so bad that I need to consider this, I'm not really convinced but that said have never been that far North, your advice would be valued

The mini chainsaw is for the Pubs bread rolls, not that there have been any complaints but the local dentist is doing rather well for himself

Just ordered a 6 inch mini chainsaw. And there is me telling Gates they are dangerous and not to get one. This is a good one, has blade guard and hand guard.

3 degrees slight rain. Feels colder in wind. Last of the leaves to fall. I don't think snow will last ?

Morning

It's 1 degree here and snowing, my garden is like a scene from a Christmas card, not that it actually ever snows at Christmas

Just to eliminate it as a source.

Good Morning.
It is minus 3 this morning but actually feels warmer.

I've got it down to 55% now but am curious as to why you mentioned the attic, there are tanks up there but they are redundant, this bungalow gets so hot in the summer with the South facing garden and conservatory that hits 55 degrees I can't understand this humidity problem

rovi, lol zone valve.

I have finally got my A3/A4 all singing all dancing printer fully functional again. Received the black ink today. I am really pleased it is working again as does do good prints. I WILL NOT be updating the firmware again when I am offered an update!!
I can sit on it and scan my bottom again for giggles!!!
What I loved about the printer was I can do automatic multipage double sided photocopies..... ermmm!! not that I need to anymore. Ahh well.

I don't think the smart meter lea would be the real cause unless it was really gushing out. Think of rain water and how quickly it drains in soil.... a few days and 20 feet is a long way for it to go. However, clay soil? bed rock etc could all redirect water under the house. I suspect just residual dampness and once dried out wil lbe fine until next prolonged really wet spell. It might be worth putting your humidity meter (hygrometer) in the attic space and see what the levels are like.

It would not flood here, I'm halfway up a hill but the water smart meter is out the front about twenty feet from the house, it's ok in summer and the dehumidifier does dry the windows quickly if I leave it in one room at a time

JJ Zone valve opens the heating for the west wing presumably. It could be costly for 2G to resolve the humidity problem as heating will draw out the water and the humidity increase will then be needed to be soaked up. But this has to be done 24 hours a day. Some flooded out houses have taken ages to dry out. Probably cheaper to move. Hope ankle operation went well.

Hi JJ,

I think you may have hit the nail on the head, I moved here summer 22 and by September started getting "we think you have a leak" letters from Anglian water it then got worse every month and they cam in January 23 and it was leaking at the smart meter fitted in August 22 so whilst I didn't have to pay an dwas compensated for lost water But now wonder is the ground so saturated that it may take a couple of years to dry out, I aired the house earlier and within minutes it's down to below 50% but now cold in here!

Morning 2G. I would give it a bit longer but does kind of look like you have damp coming in somewhere... maybe up through the floors. Have you got concrete or wooden floors? If your house is on a sloping hill you may have damp in the soil under the floors caused by hydrostatic pressure. I would check all your vents outside which ventilate under the floor are clear. These often get covered by paving slaps, soil or some blocked by a conservatory being added on and stopping a cross flow of air under the floors. Maybe there were no vents to start with!! (now you are going to tell me you have solid floors!!!)

Good Morning.

It is so freezing cold this morning I have put the central heating on. Stupid zone valve would not open fully and had to dive under the floor board in stuffed cupboard to free it up. Anyway, heating now on.
