Gradually get everything into Isas. All income is tax free and so are any gains. Iweb charges £5 a trade and doesn’t charge any Isa fees. The only downside is that they have put their fee to open an account from £25 to £100, but it is a complete one off charge. Probably a few others, but many charge monthly or percentage platform fees.Other posters might give you ideas as well.

Thanks thamestrader. On reflection that seems about right. I am one for a simple life. I want to keep my dividends below the tax exemption amount and my capital gains below that exemption amount. In this way I can qualify not to submit a tax return!

Yes, apologies. I misread the year end of February with the dividend. I think it will be ex in May. Any disagreements?

To expand slightly on the previous response, I think there was one in Feb 2021, but that must've been a Covid-delayed\special one from 2020 or something. My calendar says July and November.

Amazon faces tighter UK regulations on supplier treatment as local grocery sales hit £1bn

The code focuses on the fair treatment of suppliers by restricting companies from altering supply contracts at short notice and requires retailers to provide lengthy warnings if they intend to change suppliers whilst also providing reasons

Shrink flation is not very Green...

Not so long ago on a packet it said "reduced packaging by 15%" with a green leaf next to it however looking at the contents that had reduced by 21%, therefore there was now more packaging per 100gs of content.

Old fashioned grocery stores used to have a 12.5% net profit margin to stay in business, todays supermarkets work on less than 4%.

Grumble as you like about supermarkets you would all be a lot worse off under the old system.

It's difficult to keep track of prices on products that are frequently 'on offer' or vary seasonally (especially with my memory) but even I have noticed some quite significant rises on items that are never on promotion. Though with many of them they had been at exactly the same price for years so I do wonder how much is due to current inflationary costs and how much is actually the result of so many years where prices have been kept unsustainably low by pressurising suppliers to absorb increased costs.

I've notice over the past couple of months how more and more of the groceries being sold in Tesco have risen in price by anywhere between 10% and 35%.
