21/9/2007 12:07 | Cineworld results out and Zeel better not hope they try and track him down after his misleading comments! Cineworld (CINE) was buoyed by a steady stream of blockbuster movies during the first half. Pre-tax profits for the six months to June came in at 5.1 million pounds compared with a loss of 6 million pounds in the first half of 2006, on revenues of 135.7 million pounds up from 130.4 million pounds. "The second half has started well for the group and we have some exciting new releases ahead of us in the remainder of the year and beyond. This, combined with the quality of our estate, means we look forward with confidence to delivering further growth," said chief executive Stephen Wiener | lbo
11/9/2007 13:13 | Interesting case at the moment in that a AIM company can go after someone who posts misleading information on bbs. Island Oil launches Eircom action over internet tipster Sunday, September 09, 2007 Exploration company Island Oil & Gas has launched a court action against Eircom after a share tipping website allegedly published misleading information on its operations. The firm instigated a case last week after an anonymous poster placed information that purported to be confidential on the website in question. The information is believed to be misleading and related to Island's exploration programme. The company is understood to have taken the case in an effort to ascertain the source of the post and identify how the information came to be placed in the public domain. Eircom's role in the case relates to its provision of internet services, as the firm can use its technology to identify details relating to the post and the computer that was used. Data protection rules dictate that Eircom can only release certain information on foot of a court order. Among the material that Eircom is likely to have at its disposal is the internet protocol (IP) address, that can identify the computer used to post the information on the website. Eircom has no business connection with the website in question. An Eircom spokeswoman said the firm had received instructions from the court in connection with the case and that it would act in accordance. ''This case is pending for court next Wednesday. Eircom has been directed to deliver information on foot of a court order. Eircom is complying in full with this order," she said. An Island spokesman declined to comment on the case. | lbo
11/9/2007 12:23 | handbags guys!! its simple, there's obvioulsy some potential here, revenues don't increase 100% if there's no market....the key is, whether or not the increase in sales and marketing staff, and thus costs, can deliver the proportional amount of new business with similar or better margins, if yes, this is good value at only £9m MCAP. 07/9/2007 13:02 | Still no mention of Cinemas but the links will come in handy! LOL. I am sure more companies will want to cut costs by automating call centres if the world economy slows. Telephonetics adds automated speaker verification to its contact centre package | lbo

06/9/2007 09:49 | of course on top of a recession there is the possibility that any new 'blockbuster' will be panned by critics and shunned by cinema audiences | zeel
06/9/2007 09:11 | LOL So first you say a "recession" "is" "coming over the next 12 months" and now you have contradicted yourself again as your now saying others are only thinking its a possibility! Then you spout more rubbish about a US slowdown and somehow lump it in with the UK economy as being the same economy and hypothesise it will affect cinema revenues in the UK also. It may effect blockbuster movie making if we have a recession for a few years but next years movies and the year after have been made already. Then you add even more rubbish about cinema being a "luxury item" like a Louis Vuitton bag!! And all this escalated from the original misinformation you gave about Cineworld and Telephonetics. You better go and tell the Eckoh thread and your Eckoh employers a recession is coming too. I think I just wet my pants with the laughter! | lbo
06/9/2007 08:31 | "The US economy will slow sharply in the second half of the year and the risk of it going into recession cannot be ruled out, the OECD has warned." 05/9/2007 14:49 | LOL. More rubbish from Zeel. Might just have to buy some Cineworld as it looks like he has no clue what he is on about again. Last RNS: Cineworld Group says overall FY outlook is 'very encouraging' LONDON (Thomson Financial) - Cineworld Group PLC said its overall outlook for the full-year is "very encouraging" but warned that the comparables will become "more challenging" in the second half due to the strong closing months of 2006, which featured the James Bond movie "Casino Royale". The UK cinema group said it has increased its market share of box office to 23.9 pct from 23.4 pct in the six months to end June 2007. The results for the first-half will also include an eight week contribution from its new cinema in Didcot which opened in May 2007, increasing its portfolio to 73 sites and 758 screens, the company said in a trading update. Cineworld will publish its interim results for the six months ended June 28 2007 on Sept 20 Bad weather and blockbusters equals great cinema Bad summer is good for cinemas | lbo
