24/8/2007 09:42 | No I dont want eck to buy this lump of shiit | zeel
24/8/2007 09:14 | I don't think Eckoh have the firepower to buy them although it would give Eckoh a much bigger presence in Speech and help alleviate the mess they are in with the premium phone lines. I suspect someone much bigger will take Telephonetics out if managment will do a deal. The problem is management are convinced that they are worth a lot more then the current EV of £6.25m. Its also interesting when you see that Microsoft bought Tellme for around $800m and investors had poured $238 million into the privately held startup from 1999 to 2001. "The Board believes that Telephonetics is well positioned to benefit from the sector's forecast growth by continuing to target new areas and exploit current products, as well as look to benefit from new products coming on-line. Through the next twelve months, we should start to see the greater investment in sales and marketing paying-off and coming through into the top-line numbers. This is backed up by a number of exciting opportunities already in the pipeline" Speech recognition on the rise | lbo

24/8/2007 08:10 | the price looks to have dropped through the support - I thought it had found a bottom but no. It is making a new low every time it drops so 5p very soon I fear | zeel
24/8/2007 07:53 | Don't think its a concept or a dog. I doubt Microsoft invested so much money in a concept. Also the sector is growing as can be seen by the massive investment in it but the question is when will shareholders see the returns. The Telephonetics business is growing but much slower then anticipated and the uptake of the technology is slower then managment had led shareholders believe. Management were over optimistic from the beginning and the company was way overvalued and they are now paying the price. Still all this investment in new product and sales and they still manage to grow their cash levels is interesting for a tech company (increase in net cash of £259,000 to £3.3m). Its also interesting that are still EBITDA positive at the interims (£312,000). I suspect they are being stalked also as this company does have huge potential and these results should help put pressure on them to do a deal. The problem is the stock is so tightly held that it would need nearly all of the major shareholders to agree. This company at such an early stage should never have floated IMHO. | lbo

09/8/2007 10:38 | MUMBAI (Thomson Financial) - Standard & Poor's Ratings Services affirmed its 'B+' corporate credit rating on Nuance Communications Inc with a positive outlook and assigned its 'B-' rating to Nuance's proposed 150 mln usd senior unsecured convertible notes due 2027. 'The ratings on Nuance reflect the company's rapid growth, highly acquisitive profile, and moderately high debt leverage,' said S&P's credit analyst Martha Toll-Reed. The positive outlook reflects the company's expanding presence in the market for speech recognition products, strong EBITDA growth, and significant level of recurring revenues, the ratings agency said. Nuance is a global provider of speech recognition software and imaging solutions and related services. | lbo

19/6/2007 14:34 | They would not obliged to say unless the offer was formal yet or if there was significant pressure on them to release the news if for example it leaked and the price started to rise. Look at what happened over on Carpetright. The approach was only made known after the price rose and they had to announce they were in early talks with Lord Harris. Surely also Telephonetics managment would have been just as obliged to announce the Kenwood deal to the market and they did not. | lbo
18/6/2007 19:27 | if they had they would be obliged to say as such...as stated, any recovery is gonna be a long haul. | ![]() deanroberthunt
18/6/2007 12:19 | Yes its strange they did not announce the Kenwood/Delonghi deal to the stock market when it is announced on their website! Poor managment of a public company IMHO. All these Total voting rights coming out is also strange. I wonder have they received a takeover offer? I also note this from Eckoh : "The increasing level of interest in the Eckoh speech offering has led to a strong sales pipeline which is expected to lead to further growth in 2008 and future years. Our belief in the technology and the model we operate is reinforced by exciting recent developments in the United States, a market more mature than Europe. Microsoft has acquired Tellme Networks Inc, a hosted speech solutions provider, for a reported $800m. Google, Yahoo and Nuance are also all investing heavily in speech recognition with further consolidation anticipated in the sector. Eckoh is confident of remaining the market leader in the UK, the largest single market in Europe for hosted speech services, and remains committed to extending its footprint into other European territories for which it believes it has the necessary resources. The Speech Solutions business continues to be the long term focus of the group, and where the Board believes the best value for shareholders will be realised" | lbo |
