Even if the results are less than stellar this time who would bet against the gaming industry in the future? And Team17 is well led and set up to succeed and grow.

Theoretically there should (could?) be a Pre-Close Update at least 30 days prior final results.
Team doesn't publish a financial calendar as far as I can see but, historically, their pre-closes have been about 60 - 90 days prior to results announcements.
So there is leeway between now and 10 February (30 days prior 10 March approx.) for a pre-close trading update.

Spread is all over the place and candles don't seem to be accurate representation of the days price.
yesterday said 880 high but that was uncrossed trade from day before.
general trend seems to be holding.
I think some people exited at recent high after trading update didn't materialise, so for now, next target in final results.
I'm assuming institutional investors are NOT shifting anything and looking towards future.

Boozey, what mystifies me is the fact that sometimes it seems like there are two sets of prices to buy and sell, running concurrently. It's not just delayed trades.

There was a huge spread today even by TM17's standards - almost as if the MMs did not want to play ball today. Did anyone else notice this? I wonder if that means news is imminent.

Trading update must be imminent - fingers crossed!

Ken, I got the potential turn on 14/1/2021 wrong. Home just before the market closed, and bought without double checking the actual chart, which clearly shows 15/1/2021.
It's due to the fact on the horizonal [date] axis, the chart providers only allow for market holidays after the event and this turn was noted before New Year. I do normally double check. Bought a few more!

No RNS this week so hope for it next week. However, there were a couple of coming soon announcements this afternoon. Couch co-op Moving Out has a free 'Moving In' update out soon - it's a good fun game aimed at a similar market to Overcooked that got a bit of a hard time as it was first released during Lockdown 1 when players wanted to play together remotely. The franchise is still being updated and improved so it deserves to pick up additional buyers this time round.

Also brand new is Roguelite game Rogue Heroes: Ruins of Tasos which has been getting good feedback online for its demo. It's released on Switch and Steam via PC on 23rd Feb.

Hi Ken, yes I agree with those comments and for that reason I don't own Frontier but by contrast I do own SUMO where the Chinese investment by Tencent originally caught my attention.

The pandemic has been of huge benefit to gaming companies so to have growth reduced because of reduction in game production would be a pity, so fingers crossed.

TM17 has been a real star performer, great company, superb leader!

Let's see what tomorrow brings.

Yes Boozey, last year's Trading Update was on the 2nd working Friday so that works out as Friday 15th Jan this year.
It will be interesting to contrast it with Frontier Developments (which I also own) as they have quite different business models. FDEV released strong results based on their major franchises but confessed that getting the new complex release of Elite Dangerous:Odyssey out was proving difficult with home-working. No brand new games were released in 2020.
Team17 has become more of a publisher in recent years so publishes a lot of indie games from very small teams (sometimes of 2 or 3 people) but also released in-house developed The Survivalists and Worms Rumble this year. The midyear TU was cautious, not knowing how long the lockdown/restrictions would last, but Team17 have managed their franchises well so I'm hoping for good results tomorrow and will remain a long-term holder for years.

Some real momentum today - trading update tomorrow or Thursday - Sumo recovering well soon. Hard to find a better sector than gaming stocks during the pandemic.

Hi Ken, I normally stick to trading those charts in a clear uptrend. I use a variety of methods to attempt to buy low and sell higher!

eg IPO, CMCX, TM17, JSE, MXCT,

Bamboo, if you don't mind sharing, which other shares do you choose to trade and do you consider the sector or just volatility? Gaming shares are riding high again with Team17 and Frontier Developments (FDEV, my #2 investment) both hitting All Time Highs in the last week.

Ken, I have considered this as a lth, but while not perfect, the trading method I have been practicing with over the last few years works quite well here. There is another possible turn for TM17 tomorrow.

Quite the spike after hours today to an ATH of 860 (bamboo, join us as a LTH :) ). Note that last year on Fri 10th Jan Team17 released a positive 'ahead of expectations' TU and the share price jumped from 383p on 9th Jan to 550p on 14th Feb: 43% in 5 weeks. Shares are more expensive now of course but should be an interesting update.

Still my #1 holding.

DYOR - good luck!

re 956, I have sold today [830.669] on a potential turn.
Risky I know, as there maybe an update around the corner, but I am driven by the chart!
Hope to ne back very soon.

Wheeliedealer, some feedback offered with good intentions: I think there is some interesting info on your podcasts but at about 75 minutes they are quite some commitment to listen to due to the freestyle nature of the conversation. And while I sympathise with chat on personal health, it's not the thing you expect to hear discussed in the first couple of minutes in a financial update so it feels more like listening in to two mates catching up.
Not sure if you've watched the updates from tamzin at piworld, and they are quite a different style, but they are a bit more focused and I like the fact that on YouTube she includes links to skip straight to the companies you're interested in.
I find your Trades blog interesting - not many people publically document the trades that they make and the thinking behind the buys and sells in such detail.
All the best,
Ken

I lasted a minute into that!

Thanks for the informed comment over the year, I don't think I would be able to stay invested without being able to read comments by folks who understand the market.
Came close to buying the little dip and didn't, duh.

Happy New Year.

Hi all,

My mate Peter @Conkers3 and myself did a ‘Twin Petes Investing’ Podcast a few days before Xmas and part of our discussion includes TM17 which I hold myself. We also chatted about loads of other Stocks and Ideas for research. We discussed the outlook for Markets and the most likely roadmap for the next couple of months, and as usual a fair bit of educational stuff with regards to Investing.

Anyway, if you use Youtube, Apple, Audioboom, Overcast or Spotify you can find it under the 'Conkers Corner' Channel (you want Podcast TPI 38) and you can find it on Soundcloud at the link below.

I hope you enjoy it and find it useful, we try to keep them light and they are totally unscripted, not like all the stuffy financial fodder you are probably more used to !!

Season’s Greetings !! WD
