The institutions will take this as low as they can and make their cash buying back late spring & early summer 2017 imo, it's not as if they'll ever get burnt when they have such a high degree of control over the SP!

yes, it is disappointing that TW has retraced the early strong rise and now not certain it has halted the short term downtrend !

Dread to think at what price these would be at if the ftse and dow were down today.

only CRST and BWY exceeded TW's % increase today for building stocks !

ttobs2- you are right and easy to overlook the % gain as TW is a low priced stock . the % increase was even more from today's low point for builders .

... not to mention the 2.7% increase off todays lows !

Interesting to see UBS see 25% upside to the sector on a 0% volume and 0% price increase scenario - both of which looking distinctly unlikely

tyrannosaurus, I note you comment at 13:25.

I am trying to balance that with the 1.6p (1.1%) increase today.

It's a slow burning but going in the right direction :-)

well, motoring for TW but it has done well since early today and , if dow holds up , might well have turned and that 140 level might not be challenged . But BWY seems to be the best building stock for trading !

dipped again early today and I closed my short . Really hard to know if short term downtrend is over but it has recovered a bit after that early dip for most building stocks .

Ordinarily I might agree if it were a static market, but its not since we are told 330,000 people settle here each year, and 600,000 odd apply for national insurance numbers. So the demand would seem to be there and confidence amongst buyers must be high

gbh2 ... wasn't expecting any impact on TW or the sector to be honest, but was really only interesting because of the house price inflation at the bottom end, which was remarkable - with prices up 3.3% month on month, and up 10.1% year on year - those are big increases ...

rtgt - As there was no forecast for the Rightmove figure it's significantly improved from the previous, it may have a general impact but I don't think it'll have much impression on TW it's path is well controlled imo.

dow futures well up and FTSE will open sharply higher this morning, up about 60. . So possibly a bounce for the builders too !

does seem to be heading for that chart support at 140 and hopefully will hold there . I still have a modest holding showing a loss but now have a covered short in place which I will take profit on when the chart suggests it has bottomed . By adding to the short at times it might mean I will recover or partially recover my paper loss .

If they are going to keep paying special dividends for the foreseeable future then they are not special. They are ordinary.
REIT`s have to pay out most of their earnings in dividends.

What makes you think the normal dividend is guaranteed but the specials are not tyrannosaurus ... suggest you attend the next results presentation as it might enlighten you ... the management could not have been any clearer about distributing its free cash flow - so as long as there is free cashflow there are special dividends - although it would seem that message did not hit home with some. Any other companies you know distributing the entirety of their free cash flow please do let me know.
