18/5/2015 10:32 | With a dividend of this order I think there will be quite a lot of buying on Thursday. Shareholders spending their divi on more TW shares. I will be. | ![]() uknighted
18/5/2015 10:26 | Special dividend is 7.68p I believe | ![]() lostuser
18/5/2015 10:22 | n111ndy - similar thing here in OZ when a dividend is fully franked and share price drops more than the cash dividend . I sometimes look for a buying oportunity at low point on ex-div date if a share has previously been in a nice uptrend . Of course a bad day in market generally affects one's thinking . good luck . | ![]() arja
18/5/2015 10:14 | Question is should we be selling now in the hope of buying back 10p or more cheaper come ex div date? Going to decide after a lunch time pint I think... | ![]() joemillion
18/5/2015 10:13 | n111ndy - how much is this special dividend as , if small , punters will not be buying for that reason but becaause all the building and property stocks have great looking uptrending charts ??. airwalk - good for you if you can operate like that and wish I could on a consistent basis. I now just tend to trade to avoid any disasters and try to do OAAT as that is best way to succeed. wish the UK market opened for a CFD L2 order more than 10 minutes before market opens as it is a real pain - here in OZ it is 2 hours before opening . | ![]() arja
18/5/2015 10:05 | Well said Arja. I have been in the same boat. From what happened when the share went exd last year, it fell more than the div amount. In this case these is a lot of support and positive data on housing, but am prepared to see it happen again. | n111ndy
18/5/2015 10:01 | Arja. I have no emotional involvement in any of my holdings. I treat the markets as a business and set tight stop losses. You have to be a machine to suceed. I learnt the hard way though. You have to have the head to sell at a small loss otherwise it will easily turn into a large one. Been there... Learnt my lesson. | airwalk1971
18/5/2015 09:57 | Whole sector still gaining so difficult to guess what effect the special divi date is having here. | ![]() gbh2
18/5/2015 09:36 | Thursday is ex-div date for Special Divi payable 03/07. | ![]() uknighted
18/5/2015 09:32 | lostuser- I think ex div date was in April . | ![]() arja
18/5/2015 09:30 | airwalk- simple in theory but not in practice as human nature kicks in ! or maybe you operate like a machine and can keep emotion out of it ? ( smile ). Lucky you if you can . The best way to make money is doing OAAT and sticking to it but needs good discipline ! | ![]() arja
18/5/2015 08:49 | Wow, it's taken off again. Anyone want to guess where this might end up after Thursday (ex-div). | ![]() lostuser
15/5/2015 22:26 | airwalk1971 - agreed. | ![]() v11slr
15/5/2015 20:28 | Let your winners run and cut your losers. Simple. | airwalk1971
15/5/2015 16:56 | beercap, I'm not that well disciplined, my favoured selling point is 5 to 10% profit but this last four months I've broken my rules by hanging onto TW until the value of the holding has exceeded max in any one company rule. A lesson learnt during my first two years of share buying when the company I put half my redundancy cash into (50p) a share rose to £15. Luckily I managed to get a good deal out over two financial years and paid the tax accordingly but I lost a good deal when the share price then sank back to sub 50p. My only advice in this game is set targets. | ![]() gbh2
15/5/2015 16:44 | This has been an amazing share -that's all I can say - travelling after June for the rest of the year, that's for sure! | ![]() homeboy35
15/5/2015 16:42 | Marshall Wace trying to build a short. Have declared: 0.50% 5th May 0.63% 8th May 0.70% 13th May Can't be looking too good for them today. | ![]() 1gw
15/5/2015 16:14 | gbh2 that was honest. so you sell against a profit % not the assess class or individual stock. Interested if that works long term. A discipline I admit I cant do. to greedy.. | ![]() beercapafn
15/5/2015 13:05 | I had this problem last week, my TW holding (value wise) was above my self set maximum so I released 10Ks before thinking about what I'd do with it, eventually I bought a few VOD shares (which are now in profit) but nothing like the current profitability as TW. | ![]() gbh2
15/5/2015 12:54 | Just in cash until I see a good opportunity. I will wait for the divi now. | ![]() homeboy35
15/5/2015 09:44 | Question is, where are you going to put it if you take some profit? | ![]() gbh2
15/5/2015 09:30 | 184, even I think it's looking a bit top heavy! Might even take a bit off the table at this rate. | ![]() homeboy35
15/5/2015 07:50 | Bovis should get a good response to today's update. | ![]() gbh2
14/5/2015 22:24 | 1st time in a long time these haven't matched or bettered BDEV or PSN on a daily basis | gambos49
14/5/2015 19:39 | The madhouse is buying & selling shares, I've made and lost several K in the last 17 years, but managed to follow the golden rule of making more than I loss in each financial year :)) | ![]() gbh2 |
