That is the reason that Clegg was giving for having a reduced VAT rate. House insulation grants are available for most; details here:

Well not one of them wants to take the VAT off of the cost of insulating my house, why are we paying VAT on insulation.
Why are we paying VAT on double glazing. If they want us to be green then act upon it.

There is an interesting comparison of all 3 parties policies towards housing here:

The Labour party policies appear to be the most comprehensive.

I believe the Lib Dems have also floated the idea that VAT at a lower rate should be paid on new builds.

Any one who has been following the election campaign diligently care to comment how they see any party victory (or hung parliament) affecting the housing market?

Watch the real experts debate the recovery on Sky tonight
00:09 | 30.04.10

By David Doyle

Do you want real answers from industry experts on the recovery and property's role in it?

Tonight Property Week's recovery debate, featuring Lloyds Banking Group's head of corporate real estate business support Richard Dakin, Great Portland chief executive Toby Courtauld and Lambert Smith Hampton chief executive Ezra Nahome, will air for the first time on Sky.

Tune in to Sky Channel 166 and Freesat 402 at 8.30pm to hear how Lloyds are going to manage their property loan book, what impact the General Election will have on the market, and how and where money is coming from.

You can also take part in our online poll for the chance to win an iPod Touch.

The show will also be aired at:

•11.30am on Sunday May 2.
•8.30pm on Monday May 3
•8.30pm Tuesday May 4
The debate, in association with Lambert Smith Hampton, was first broadcast live on PropertyWeek.com earlier this month.

Very frustrating I agree, however it is not unusual to take a long time to break through a resistance level (40p) and then come back and test it as support before continuing upwards.

Hi All, held TW for quite a while now and really thought we were going to build on last weeks gains. Hope that things will settle down after the election/Greece situation and find some support in the mid 40's!
Spenny, read the threads for a while and appreciate the charts etc..keep it up.
