I’m sure that Synairgen’s primary focus will be on a licensing deal for SNG001.
If correct, I can’t see that their share price will have any influence.

Interesting new research;

Efficacy and safety of interferon beta-1a in treatment of severe COVID-19: A randomized clinical trial

Results: As primary outcome, time to the clinical response was not significantly different between the IFN and the control groups (9.7 +/- 5.8 vs. 8.3 +/- 4.9 days respectively, P=0.95). On day 14, 66.7% vs. 43.6% of patients in the IFN group and the control group were discharged, respectively (OR= 2.5; 95% CI: 1.05- 6.37). The 28-day overall mortality was significantly lower in the IFN then the control group (19% vs. 43.6% respectively, p= 0.015). Early administration significantly reduced mortality (OR=13.5; 95% CI: 1.5-118). Conclusion: Although did not change time to reach the clinical response, adding to the standard of care significantly increased discharge rate on day 14 and decreased 28-day mortality.

My Comment - These are severe patients at a later disease stage than SNG trial. IFN was by injection. Trial still showed benefit with earlier discharge and decreased mortality. Encouraging.

Well I guess we all invest based on what we think at the time. Decisions after the outcome then either look like the works of complete genius or acts of utter folly :-)and I suspect Synairgen is going to be one of those polarising cases. I have invested here further than I originally intended, and like all losses, if that were to happen it would sting a bit, but fortunately it will not break the bank here. However,I believe it is looking relatively positive at the moment. We are likely going to get a clear nudge of direction in this, one way or another, with the COPD results in the next few weeks. The research I have followed suggests to me this product will work in all 3 current trials, and lead to partnership with a larger company. That makes complete sense to me. Nothing is guaranteed with this, of course, there are sizeable risks and it will still have a long way to go even after positive results, but on balance I believe there is an opportunity here. So GLA, let’s hope we are smiling after the first results come in.

I’m aware that placebo can sometimes be a surprisingly strong competitor(!), but it would be a major disappointment if SNG’s current trial couldn’t replicate the earlier Wuhan conclusions:

‘...the findings presented here are the first to suggest therapeutic efficacy in COVID-19 disease of IFN-α2b, an available antiviral intervention. Furthermore, beyond clinical benefit to the individual patient, treatment with IFN-α2b may also benefit public health measures aimed at slowing the tide of this pandemic, in that duration of viral shedding appears shortened.‘

Yes it is nowhere near my biggest holding. The relative risk means a proportionate investment is merited here IMHO. Hopefully all investors here know the risk they are taking as I have said all the way through.

I’m playing I am not in that deep:) it’s my highest holding but got others so have spread my risk. I can afford not to touch it but I am hoping it does well enough to turn out well in the next couple of years. There will be bread on the table without it.

Agreed, life savings on any stock is a huge gamble. Especially in this climate, hope it pays off for you but be prepared to lose a fair chunk if results aren't successful.

Crookie... watch yourself. Going hard with your life savings in a stock that could drop 80pc if they have a bad trial result is well ballsy. Dont care what anyone ln this board says, no one really knows the outcome. Drug results, oil and gas exploration... everyone's always bullish (especially the ceos) right up until disaster (not saying that will happen here).

And the rest of you will be realising his incessant posting is not normal behaviour. Essentially he is deranged and should probably deserve our sympathy if he wasn't such a thoroughly unpleasant character.

The rest of you are beginning to see what a destructive character he is. He is only happy if he is ruining threads for everyone else. Please just filter him and don't respond!
