<< All eligible patients are randomly allocated between several
treatment arms, each to be given in addition to the usual standard of care in the
participating hospital: No additional treatment vs Lopinavir-Ritonavir vs Low-dose

OK,thanks - I had ignored normal hospital care as a placebo, more of a benchmark, but I suppose it is of course here .

There is a placebo group in the Recovery trial. The spilt is 2.1.1.1.1 so twice as many in the placebo group as anything else. Since it is open label it is really difficult to see how on earth that works!

I couldnt see a placebo in the Recovery Trial, so the TV interview tonight sounds like it could be the SNG one as a placebo was mentioned I believe - Ive not watched it yet but apparently the interviewee sounded bullish ??

As it kept on going up I kept on increasing my short. Reaping the dividends now. A lot further to go IMHO so I will be holding on to most of it. Bought back about 20% so far with a lovely profit....again!

Who has said “keeping the elderly locked up for 18 months” is this just something from a paper. And what age is classified as elderly, 65, 70 ?

Luke - Synairgen has had a lot of PR. It has also had a lot of shares dumped in to the market, that is the issue with the share price

Progress seems to be going well based on last update, let’s wait and see.

If you could buy shares for this vaccine from Oxford, with all this publicity from the right people, to quote a phrase “the share would be hitting the roof in anticipation”
Whereas the PR for SGN is ?

The reason for that is they state we cannot fully get back to normal until an effective vaccine is found so not surprising they are wishing it to be successful! They are talking of keeping the elderly locked up for as much as 18 months until it is over

Whilst it is hopefully good news, its a six month study, even if they do manage to find a vaccine it will not deal with the issues currently faced.

Interesting date that they first started the trial per the attached.

Never occurred to me and that is speculation on your part.
But this vaccine is getting a lot of play. The media and the Gov seem to think that is the one to go for, treatments hardly get a mention, which is unlucky.

They are talking about this vaccine as if it’s a no brainer with lots of testing to do. Now why no talk of SGN, testing just the same, shame.

Outcomes of hydroxychloroquine usage in United States veterans hospitalized with Covid-19

From the Absract conclusion;

In this study, we found no evidence that use of hydroxychloroquine, either with or without azithromycin, reduced the risk of mechanical ventilation in patients hospitalized with Covid-19. An association of increased overall mortality was identified in patients treated with hydroxychloroquine alone. These findings highlight the importance of awaiting the results of ongoing prospective, randomized, controlled studies before widespread adoption of these drugs.
