21/4/2020 07:55 | This morning TheTimes has reported all of the potential drugs that may be beneficial to combat Covid 19 - 6 in all, but no mention of Synairgen - WTF!! 🤬 I added comments to the article and emailed Rhys directly and asked him to edit his article to include Synairgen 🙃😂. 21/4/2020 07:53 | It was from an RNS, I was not sure if the early data was made available ie they unblinded the trial because it had been halted or because they had access to the data. Everyone in the trail may not know the results of the data but I guess someone controlling the trial data would Know? I couldn’t find anything with the current trial length, dosed first patients a month ago end of May for unblinding? | ![]() crookie3634

21/4/2020 07:25 | Early data from this double-blind, placebo-controlled trial have demonstrated that the antiviral responses in the lung (assessed using sputum biomarkers) are similar to those observed in the asthma trial, where we saw clinical benefit in lung function. Nobby a question on the above,If I may. Was early data available on the above COPD trial because it got halted and they revealed some of the data at that point or because those conducting the trial had access to all data whether a placebo or the real drug? The above indicates they had access to early data which if they did what is to say they wouldn’t in Covid-19 trial? And already have evidence it is or isn’t working ie announcement that the trial is to be fast tracked? | ![]() crookie3634

21/4/2020 06:13 | I think we will get news this week. This is a blockbuster delivery method and we know interferon will impact positively on covid 19 sufferers based on Chinese reports. I see this at 4 pounds in next few weeks. | ![]() imjustdandy
21/4/2020 06:08 | Hi Likya, Also thought this part of the French article was interesting in this respect: Inhaled interferon has the potential to reduce Covid-19 mortality by up to 50%. According to Chinese studies, it allows the virus to be eliminated in 7 days for mild forms, and up to 15 days for the most severe forms. "In Shanghai, researchers have shown that inhaled interferon (coupled with an antiviral) does not require the addition of hydroxychloroquine to be more effective. " Going to be carnage on the markets today I suspect. Went short FTSE and Brent last night. | ![]() talk2dubya
21/4/2020 01:38 | The last line about RA patients is fascinating, more evidence for interferon! The thrombi theory is also interesting, cos many intensivists have remarked that many patients oxygen level is lower than predicted in patients with mild symptoms (they said their patients should be more breathless than they are, and this can happen due to recurrent small 'clots on the lung' (probably localised clotting) the world is learning daily about this dreaded virus...hope we have some solutions soon | torreskid
20/4/2020 21:18 | Very interesting from lse board...translated. Below is an excerpt from a cardiologist that has been working on the frontline in an Italian hospital. I haven't posted the remainder of the mail as it is less relevant and somewhat distressing. The last two sentences are incredibly relevant I believe to SNG. Why ? I'm definitely not an expert but doesn't Interferon treat the immune response in the lower tract of the lung ? And as importantly, Interferon is a well known treatment for sufferers of Rheumatoid Arthritsis. It's important we know this but also important this information is shared as widely as possible. I would love to hear back from experts on the platform and gather their thoughts. I don't mind a debate. "I don't want this to seem too excessive, but I think I've demonstrated the cause of coronavirus lethality. At Beato Matteo Hospital there are only 2 cardiologists for 150 beds who carry out echocardiograms with enormous effort and one of them is me. It’s exhausting! However, that which some supposed, but could not be sure, we now have the first data. People are being resuscitated for generalised venous thromboembolism, especially pulmonary. If this was the case, resuscitations and intubations are useless because first of all you have to dissolve, or rather prevent these thromboembolisms. If you ventilate a lung where blood does not reach, it is not needed! In fact, 9 out of 10 die because the problem is cardiovascular, not respiratory! It is venous microthrombosis, not pneumonia that determines death! And why are thrombi formed? Because inflammation, as per school textbooks, induces thrombosis through a complex but well-known pathophysiological mechanism. And so? What the scientific literature, especially Chinese, said until mid-March was that anti-inflammatories should not be used. Now in Italy, anti-inflammatories and antibiotics are used (as for influenza) and the number of inpatients has significantly reduced. Many of the dead, even the 40 year olds, had a history of high fever for 10-15 days that was not properly treated. Where the inflammation destroyed everything and prepared the ground for the formation of the thrombi. This is because the main problem is not the virus, but the immune reaction that destroys the cells where the virus enters. In fact, we have had no rheumatoid arthritis patients come into our COVID departments!” | ![]() likya123
20/4/2020 20:39 | Rumours on LSE board of someone building a big stake, big after hours buys going through each day. Seen this sort of behaviour before and ended up being a company taking controlling interest. Keeping my eyes peeled for holding RNS this week, feels like next few weeks will be interesting. | ![]() crookie3634 |
