The dividend per share standing still means the amount paid in dividends is slightly reduced because post-buyback there are less shares in issue. Very roughly, they could have paid between 5.1p and 5.2p for the final if they'd maintained the payout.

The forecast XD date of 26 Oct was correct:

"Payment of the final dividend [5p] will be made to shareholders on the register at the close of business on 27 October 2023 and the ex-dividend date is 26 October 2023."

Yes that 2.25p was a special.
You are quite right though that the Divi has been maintained as although the final divi last year was 8p there was no interim so the 8p last year = 3p interim +5p final this time round so that's the same.

Yep, divi maintained. I bought back in after the joint venture RNS.

Great news, I think, that divi's being maintained.

Remember that last year, the extra divi of 2.25p was a windfall divi.

My 5-6p guess was not a bad one as it turns out. 5p final making 8p total. $124.2m cash.



Financial Highlights

· Net revenue generated for the period totalled $130.2 million (FY2022: $152.0 million);

· Group EBITDA of $66.0 million (FY2022: $82.8 million);

· Net profit of $45.4 million (FY2022: $56.2 million);

· New Dividend Policy approved by the Board and effective from 1 July 2022;

· Interim dividend of three pence per Ordinary Share declared by the Board and paid in April 2023;

· Final cash dividend of five pence per Ordinary Share declared by the Board, maintaining an annual eight pence per Ordinary Share dividend for FY2023 (FY2022: eight pence per Ordinary Share);

· Group cash balance of $124.2 million (excluding $0.8 million restricted cash held as guarantees) with no debt and no pipeline financing; and

· Bought back a total of 4.8 million Ordinary Shares during the year at an average price of 81.5 pence per share, equating to $4.9 million in aggregate.

Results tomorrow? I'm not expecting the 16% yield to be maintained in light of the lower PGM price but hopefully still a decent payout. Last year's final was 8p, any guesses for this year's? I'll go with 5-6p but that is just a guess

That seems likely. Also RIO may have bucked the downtrend so maybe resource stocks have finally bottomed out but probably too early to say.

This may also have had an influence although the story is from Friday...

Possibly the Master Investor article which came out on Friday evening. If their numbers are correct then the EV/eps in the year to end June is just 2.5:

"Edison estimates that the year to end June 2023 will have seen $134m revenues and $67m pre-tax profits, worth 18.1c (14.3p) per share in earnings and enabling a dividend of 8p per share....

"…. Group cash balance was $125.0m (£99m) as at 30 June 2023."

Anyone know what's with today's price spike?
I topped up last week. Sadly I can't claim to have been clairvoyant. Every move of the markets comes as a surprise to me these days. Nice to have copped a bouquet rather than a brickbat this time - provided it lasts!

I think you can take it that the DM date is forecast as it's ahead of results but probably the most likely date so a useful guide.

I suspect dividend max pick the most likely date based on day of the week and previous dates. It's probably the best guidance available at this time to and not confirmed until when results and the dividend amount are published by SLP on Thursday.
Meanwhile today's rise is encouraging as we head towards results day unless I've missed some other reason for the rise today.

It does, but I'm not sure what they base it on? I can find no statement of it in any RNS I've looked at, unless it's well hidden! Dividend Max have been known to make assumptions about future divs.

I like to see crazy prices at close. Most of my buying (and selling) is through limit orders and I usually have a few in at crazy prices. Sometimes they trigger.
