saw a guy buying a 50 gram pouch of golden Virginia earlier - 23 English pounds !! think it was half the price when I used to smoke that rubbish. So glad I switched to vaping about 15 years ago now - ok I'm still addicted to nicotine but I like a coffee too, certainly much fitter and healthy now I don't smoke, and more money in my pocket too !!

It's not so much about what is in Labour's manifesto it's what they actually do when in power that matters! But yes, I get your point....who cares about The Conservative manifesto.....or indeed anything The Conservative party says now.

I expect that when Labour are in charge they will come to quite like the tax revenues from vapes and tobacco. As it pays for all the lovely 'plans' they have but aren't telling you about.

They might tax it a bit more but who cares? You could double the tax on vapes and people would still pay for it.

Vaping is still about 1/10th the cost of smoking.

From SUP's point of view, more tax on vapes doesn't impact them much. They are one of the cheapest on the market. Their strategy is a numbers game - acquire as many brand loyal customers as possible.

The more customers they get the more valuable they are.

It's what's in Labours manifesto that will matter.

I could believe it if the conservatives weren't 25/1 with the bookies But every bit of positive helps

Just reading that in the conservative manifesto the recent policy regarding the gradual ban on tobacco and a crackdown on vape sales which is linked to Sunak has been left out. Maybe the reason for today's move?

Further update from UKVIA The UK Vaping Industry Association is pleased to see that common sense has prevailed and that the Tobacco and Vapes Bill will almost certainly not be rushed through the legislative process, prior to the Election.Since the Bill was announced, the UKVIA has maintained that the measures it contains could have such potentially grave impacts on the health of both smokers and vapers that it requires extremely careful consideration. The General Election gives everyone time to pause, take stock, and – should this Bill be reintroduced once a new government is formed after July 4 – we will continue to engage with whoever is in power.Whatever happens, the UKVIA remains committed to ensuring that adult smokers and vapers continue to have excellent access to the vaping products and flavours they require to keep them off cigarettes while protecting those underage from ever startinghttps://ukvia.co.uk/with-the-tobacco-and-vapes-bill-almost-certainly-on-hold-until-after-the-election-ukvia-welcomes-much-needed-breathing-space-to-properly-consider-future-vape-legislation/

I think we were in a better position to deal with the regulations than competitors so I don't think it's necessarily a positive. For example part of the legislation was spend money on dealing with illegal vapes so that's also going to be delayed.

It would be helpful, but not transformative. Upside is the cashflow of that delay. Their disclosure is decent so should be able to calcluate it. Bit surprised that the share price wasnt up today

I think, given they've already engaged with the business community, there shouldn't be any material changes to the bill once it's reintroduced in the next parliamentary. Reintroduction of the bill is a safe working assumption as it got wide cross party support in current parliament. So all else equal, a half year to one year delay to implementation would be a positive for supreme and other vape sellers.

It has officially been ditched, surprised not more reaction in market. Means at the v least a significant delay to the introduction of the ban

Tories have neutered labour on vaping already by being proactiveThe only thing labour could do to differentiate on vaping is start talking up extremes like the banning route or extreme taxesWhen you look at data on vaping (ie how popular it is among voters), that would be unnecessary risk for the side who basically just need to avoid doing anything stupid to bring in the win

So increased risk of uncertainty ahead, particularly given the significant labour majority that is expected. But every cloud....legislation is unlikely to receive royal assent until late 2024 or first half 2025. This will mean the anticipated ban on disposables could be pushed into 2026 esp allowing for transition periods.

So, consequences.....Bill could be reintroduced: If there is a desire to pursue the legislation further, the bills must be reintroduced in the next session of Parliament. This can be done by the same or different sponsors. Reintroduction can happen as new bills, and they will have to go through all the legislative stages again.Pre-dissolution Arrangements: Occasionally, there are provisions made for certain bills to be carried over to the next session if an early dissolution was anticipated and arrangements were agreed upon before the dissolution. However, this is rare and usually specific to certain urgent or widely supported legislation.Changes Upon Reintroduction: The bills, when reintroduced, can be identical to the ones that fell, or they may be modified based on feedback, changes in government policy, or other considerations that have arisen in the interim.
