It looks like the plans are basically everything Supreme has already implemented, bar the ban disposables. I imagine they'll now announce their new refillable system as by all accounts that's ready to go.Could also see a big uptick in disposable sales in the months leading up to the ban if consumers stock up.

Fair point. Personally I'm not remotely worried about this government review

No government will block the main route for people to get off tobacco.

Single use? Well, as you say companies will find a way around it or consumers will.

The valuation here has so much bad news built into it. Feels a good risk/reward bet to me

surely there's a loophole where the manufacturers just turn these single use vapes to multiple use vapes?

Split the tank and have 2 flavours. Tada! You have a dual use vape.

Or you just make them refillable.

Or you just make it a pod system. Click in a new pod.

I very much doubt the government legislation is going to outrun the innovation from the manufacturers.

The demand is there and the manufacturers will respond to it.

Not sure any illegal market would change...and, given the majority of people are law abiding citizens, I'm not sure that people using the black market would increase materially either

"I wonder how other disposable only sellers will respond?"

The largest (by far) disposable brand has already responded by introducing pods:

However, there is a vast market in illegal disposables that appears almost out of control:

I wonder how other disposable only sellers will respond? They may enter the pod system or e liquid space. Or they may get squeezed out as they haven't reached a certain scale and velocity - it's a very competitive market place for the small players (revenues

Of the above scenarios, I'd hvae thought 1 and 2 are the most likely decisions that the majority of consumers make.

Given the current multiple, the share price already factors is a decent amount of bad news. In theory, any decision should only impact the share price is worse than that bad news, though in rocky markets can never really know

Any proposed ban will take time to implement, and may of course get delayed as per the menthol ban in the US, for example. However, for now the political environment - in the UK at least - appears unfavourable to disposables. This is unlikely to change in future under a labour led government. Therefore, it's sensible to assume the ban goes ahead. The available choices to those consumers currently purchasing disposable vapes may include:1. Switch to Vape Pod systems 2. Switch to Vaping E-liquids3. Return to smoking combustibles 4. Stop vaping completely5. Access disposables via the black market6. Switch to nicotine pouches One would assume that Option 1 and 2 would benefit supreme, particularly option 2 given their dominant market share and trusted brand, and of course the associated higher margins that can be achieved on E-liquids. Unfortunately, we may lose a portion (

On Monday, the government is expected to set out its response to a consultation on how to protect children, as data suggests one in five have now tried vaping despite it being illegal for under-18s.New legislation to allow for tighter restrictions was promised in the king's speech last year.A decision on flavours will be put off until later in the year, but a ban on disposable vapes will be proposed under existing environmental legislation in the meanwhile, according the Times.Looks like a ban on disposables is likely...need to understand what the implications may be, play through the likely scenarios. The market won't like the uncertainty in the short term. https://www.theguardian.com/society/2024/jan/27/vapes-may-be-limited-to-four-flavours-in-drive-to-stop-uk-children-getting-hooked?CMP=Share_AndroidApp_Other

And a piece on BBC news today saying Over four million illegal vapes seized at border, if they crack down on that, more business for SUP. News either way on the consultation will significantly move the share price, if its downwards I would expect that to be temporary and I'll be ready to add.

I wasn't expecting a January update for 2024. I interpreted the "strong q3 trading" update from last year as a one off announcement, given no such update from 2022. I think we'll get something in April. Or as soon as the outcomes from consultation are released (so maybe sometime in Feb).

Sci-mx being pushed heavily via social media. Great brand in my opinion. Hopefully influencers and social media reach translate into improved sales. Think this is very much a rising star in the supreme portfolio.
