But hasn't Australia seen an uptake in smoking due to this ban. Surely that goes against recent government initiatives.

I'd say a portion of disposable users would stop entirely, but this won't be over 50% in my view. The big drop in disposables and consequent moderate(?) Increase in refills might offset. Own brand refills are higher margin. Difficult to call at this stage but a wild overreaction in the market, which is discounting any and all positives from moves to pod systems etc.

Historically the vast majority of their sales in vaping have been in liquids and non disposables.Although a potential blow to the Elf deal it does get rid of disposable competition.In the short term people might actually stock up on disposables.

Definitely will take a hit and it will be oversold before it recovers. Out for now as I fear this will have no support except from speculative investors.

I was the one who remembered someone at SUP favouring a licence like alcohol - I have now found the original - it was CEO Sandy speaking in detail about teen vaping and worth listening to again after last week's media outburst:

This seems the sensible way forward from the earlier post:

Supreme play by the rules. Sandy Chadha is a very rich self-made man and is perfectly entitled to make a donation to the Conservative Party. Many companies and individuals make political donations. No doubt everyone will jump on this, if it makes a good political story.

The only mistake, with hindsight, is using his private company with the word "Supreme" in the title as the press are too thick to differentiate between the two...and this makes a good story. I suspect it will continue to hit the share price and then blow over with time. It has no impact on current trading.

Vaping is very trendy at the moment and needs better regulation. However, most consumable products are bad for your health and/or the environment, if consumed to excess. Vapes are no different to alcohol, sugar, high fat, tobacco, no exercise etc. etc. People need to take personal responsibility, but they should definitely not be sold to under-18s which is something that Supreme are very clear about. Supreme are not the end vendor and so its a change in regulation that is required if shops are selling to under-18s. Maybe packaging rules will change as well.

Think everyone would welcome a significant crack down on selling vaping products to under 18's. A complete ban on vaping products would be counter productive however.

Tories defend £350K vaping boss donation

The Conservatives have defended accepting a donation from the chief executive of a company accused of marketing vapes to children.

They accepted a £350,000 donation from Supreme 8 Limited in May, records show.

The boss of Supreme 8 is Sandy Chadha, who is also the chief executive of Supreme PLC, which markets vapes.

Labour says vapes sold by Supreme - such as Blue Razz Lemonade, Strawberry Mousse and Rainbow Burst - are clearly aimed at children.

The legal age to purchase and use a vape is 18.

A spokesperson for Supreme PLC said: "Supreme PLC or its subsidiaries does not and has not made political donations.

"We can however confirm that Sandy Chadha, Group CEO of Supreme PLC has, historically, donated funds to the Conservative Party.

"These donations are unrelated to Supreme PLC, of which Mr Chadha is a shareholder, and were funded directly by Mr Chadha."

Supreme do have a disposable brand, Zillion and Zillion Plus. Their website says that 80% of vaping is by disposables, but they have 30% of the UK liquid market. So a ban will simply mean vapers moving to liquid and non-disposable dispensers.

I don't think so. I never came across supreme products in Wilko's, unless there were some household products sold. Also the old supreme imports website never listed Wilko as a customer (but did include b&ms).
